LONDON, Aug 8 (Reuters) - The odds on toddler Brooklyn Beckham following in his father David's international footballing footsteps were slashed from 1000-1 to 100-1 on Wednesday.

British bookmaker William Hill cut the odds after the Manchester United and England midfielder said his son was a better footballer than he was at the same age.

``It's pretty amazing for a little boy of his age to kick the ball the way he does, so it must be in the genes in some way,'' Beckham said in an interview in the forthcoming edition of celebrity news magazine ``Heat.''

Brooklyn now has not only his dad's hopes to live up to, but also British gamblers who stand to win 250,000 pounds if he kicks a ball for England.

``Many punters reckoned it was worth placing a speculative bet on Brooklyn emulating his Dad and we're already looking at a six figure payout -- albeit not for the best part of twenty years,'' a spokesman for William Hill said.

But if the bookmakers are to be believed, Brooklyn is more likely to emulate his pop star mother, Victoria ``Posh Spice'' Beckham. William Hill are offering 50-1 on the toddler having a number one hit single.
