Him and Henri missing games for whatever reason this year in Vancity...coincidence? I think not.

The turf is going to be a sticking point for the Caps... We'll never get a player of that ilk here as long as we have the fake stuff and players will have "injuries" when they come to town... or worse.

Beckham thinks, hmm...one more yellow and I don't have to play on that poor fake stuff...I'll take it now so that I'm useful for my team against Portland (Where he'll have to play on turf, but theirs is miles better than what's at Empire) who are better than the Caps.

Beckham is a smart guy, I'd likely do the same thing if I were in his boots.

So which one is it? He's a smart guy or you think a like.

If only Lady cakes stays home as well we may have a chance. Hopefully Rochat and Demerit will be in the line up because if they are not it could get ugly.

He's done it before... admittedly... so why do you think I'm making this up?

Portland is a sterner test for LAG than Vancouver.
We have a poorer surface than at JeldWenField.

Regardless of whether you think it was a just card or if he intentionally took a yellow, he can't be taken at his word... and I don't blame him.

c/p Joe Cannon comment from The Province

Caps’ goalkeeper Joe Cannon, who played for the Galaxy when Beckham arrived in ‘07, chuckled at the news.

“I don’t care about him,” he said. “It’s Landon I’m good friends with. Vancouver fans will be upset but that’s great for us. He just scored [directly] off a corner kick.”

He's a wanker..........end of story. Most overrated player EVER.

Best crosser and set piece player of all time, not to mention he works his bag off and lives, eats, sleeps and breaths soccer. Overrated wanker indeed, don't you have a picket line to cross Scabrock..end of story...Booyakkka

It shows how shallow you are when it comes to looking at the game. For that, I will forgive you. Best crosser and set piece taker of ALL TIME? Bwahahaha. I know 20 Brazilians over the years who are better at set pieces. Can't head a ball, can't tackle, doesn't have a ****ing clue how to defend, left foot is for standing on. You're right, he's not overrated at all. Now go back to your division 8 Fraser Valley football where you belong. Cheers.

Overrated overall yes.

Beckham is the best English crosser, passer, and deadball specialist of his era, perhaps of all time.

Juninho Pernambucano was better at set pieces and their careers overlap.
Roberto Carlos was probably a better crosser of the ball, his right leg was for standing on...

Beckham is probably only overrated as a footballer because he's English, and sorry to the English fans...but everything about English football is overrated from the quality of the National Team, the wage cost and transfer fees of their players and the players in the EPL overall (Thank Sky for that)

but overall I think Beckham's fame chasing has tainted what he truly is for a lot of purists... marrying an alien lookalike, posing in his underwear for Calvin klein or whoever was paying him...

There's no doubting he's very committed to the game, his fitness, his skills and his legacy.

But he's rich bitch, and I'm at work trying to steal some time back from "the Man" typing this ;)

Yes and he was that good without all those tools. Who needs to beat a man or use your left foot when you can put it on a platter for someone with more talent from 40 yards away. I really don't think there are that many out and out wingers that have done a job like he has. Don't be Glib Captain...protecting beautiful people since 99.

Even with the new alignment that valley only goes to Div 4. as you were.

GFYS for sure, I pulled the plug on my team management caarer recently after 25 years. So the lads decided a piss up retirement was in order. We booked the Red bulls game cause of Henry, he bailed and then the game got changed to an early start because of the Nucks/Sharks game. So Caps allowed us to exchange tix for the Galaxy game.

The guys even had prizes lined up for the best TTP of Beckham, fcuker! Guess now Landdycakes is in for it. I was looking forward the the Becks heckles. As we are in with the Southsiders.

Oh well, still be a brilliant night.

"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right." George Best, when asked about David Beckham.

I was saying that 15 years ago to all my "english" friends, they thought I was crazy... aside from everything else that's been said about him on here (can't head, can't defend, tackle, etc.) , he's never beaten anyone one on one and doesn't even try, but you know what...in the last few years I've changed my mind about him...he is what he is, a great crosser, great dead ball specialist, and its not his fault that the media made him out to be more than what he is (or was)...he's made a great career out of his ability and anyone who knocks him is jealous, or crazy, or doesn't know soccer (Yes CS, I agree that he is over-rated, maybe the most of all time, but that is the media doing the talking, and you know how much they know). In short, I hated the guy, but I respect him now (I'm sure he'll feel better now:D)
