Ok Stew, your original point was that it was based on number of teams..."that's how things are done in the ol' boys league"...now you're arguing your mom's better than mine and that's why she gets more berths...
If anything else, this will raise the interest level in those first round match-ups. We'll see how it all plays out.
P.S. I'm not a present masters player...though I have in the past and will again someday... and still follow the league. (fyi presently at pau premier)
See you in the beer garden one day to further our debate and present witnesses.
cheers,

So let me see if I understand how your logic apparently works: "our league is better because we all get to play against each other so we can see how things fall out." Meanwhile, your top teams get free points at the expense of the doormats at the bottom.
what are you on about here?...relevance to..??
So what are you going to base your seeding criteria on? I'm sure Vic and the BC Soccer mob will say "let's give the FVSL more Cup spots just because they say they're better."
I don't recall suggesting that...I questioned why you should get 6 because of your div 2 and div 3 numbers...which you used to justify 6 spots.
Let's talk about that ability issue. Sure, let your 4th place team play our 6th (Sapperton, last year's Cup finalists)...
..ok so you agree...wild card game it is.
I know who I'd put my money on, and it wouldn't be Bully's boys. Hey, let them try against the 8th place team (Metro Ford) and see how they do.
I like how you pick the star-studded under achieving team to make your point...
Normally, we have seeded the top 4 Premier teams into the Provincials, with the next 2 spots open to whichever Premier and 1st Div teams are interested. We couldn't do that this year because of a lack of time to get all the playoff games in before field allotments run out.
sounds like a real tight ship over there..."whichever teams are interested" ???
I'm not disputing the achievements of the teams at the top end of the pile in your league, but look at the situation realistically. You have a 3 horse race, with more than 20 points separating 1st from 4th place. In our Premier, we have 5 points separating 1st from 5th, and in 1st Div 8 points between 1st place and 6th. Tell me which scenario is more likely to produce competitive results?
I thought we were talking about bc berths and how they are alotted...a crossover wild card game would help settle the apples / oranges argument wouldn't it?
I would love to see more inter-league games, and I'm sure more of our teams would too. We tried to get this to happen on an official basis for 3 years, but couldn't get Robbie and Neil to come up with a fit that they liked. Like I told the Toes before: "we'd love to come out and play on your nice fields, drink all your beer and steal all your women." But basically, without some hard results to back up your claims to greatness for the FVSL, your argument is on shaky ground.
why do you need inter-league games?...sounds like you've got it all there already....."my claims to greatness for the fvsl" ...when did I claim that? I questioned why your league automatically gets twice as many spots...you seem to think, now at least, its because of your collective greatness instead of your vast supportive structure of div 2 and 3 teams. At least you've made yourself clear now.
