Munich Air Disaster

Does anybody, other than Sid of course, remember Duncan Edwards. Before my time of course, 1958, but read a lot about him. My old man saw him play and said that he was by far the greatest talent lost in that tragedy. He was only 19, I believe when he died.

Older TTP'ers and Sid - Any comments?

Cheers :(

he could score,he was the first all round that could do it all(kinda like d-jones)rock solid unstoppable!!!!!what # did he wear----surely the greatest player in that era,he did everything in his short life ,normally it takes a career to produce what this young lad produced in a few short (3 )seasons at UNITED he did it all,by far the greatest UNITED & english player of all time

Now you're making comparisons with Edwards and Jones? You're a fcukin cabbage man!! An embarrasment to all United supporters. No nothing up the arse, and the InspectorFlake bit was quite clever-really!!, but you sound like a bit of an Adrian Mole type character. Sort yourself!!

Duncan Edwards

Captain,

Summary was 175 appearances for Man Utd 1952 - 1958

21 goals

2 Championship medals 1956 & 1957

18 caps for England 1955 - 1957

All the above accomplished by the age of 21.

The most under rated player ever was...

Tom Finney,
the only reason Stanley Mathews played on the right for England is because Finney was just as good with both feet. It takes good delivery for all these forwards to shine, just look at Cole. ;)

Thanks, Crafty Cokcney. I will look at that later today.

Thierry Henry is the first name which comes to mind. How does this tie into the Munich tragedy?

Captain, who is confused, as usual

more good news....Matteo, and then this...

Leeds United mifielder Eirik Bakke will be sidelined for six to eight weeks after a scan revealed he has suffered ankle ligament damage.

Bakke suffered the injury while playing as an emergency striker against West Ham at Elland Road last weekend.

The ankle was so badly swollen that he had to wait for four days before a scan could be taken.

Disappointed Leeds boss Terry Venables told the club's website: "Eirik has been playing excellently and he looks as if he's enjoying the role he's been given.

"He was really on top of his game, so it's a shame he's twisted his ankle and it doesn't look good."

England friendly

Whats all the fuss about?
If Harry Kewell was English he'd be playing for England, no one in the press mentioned that Australia played a good game and so what if Sven wants to try new things, thats what friendlies are for. Hats off to Sven for giving the young lads a run and for not overtaxing the regulars who have other priorities at the moment.
Nice to see Rooney and Jenas out there.

Question for the TTP:
Is there an international quality left winger (who is English).

Dyer looks out of place and Heskey & Sinclair can't cross with their left foot either. McManaman?
