It's almost that time for the B Cup to start, and BC Soccer is doing it differently this year. No more 5 games in 2 days, you'll have one game a week in a playoff format. Since I don't pay attention to the VISL/VMSL who has claimed a spot from the respective leagues?

From the FVSL, only 2 teams have guaranteed their spots, us (Peace Arch Nomads) and GEU Inter. Langley Young Guns basically have a spot but haven't mathematically clinched it yet.

Draw can be found in POST#27 (http://www.takethepiss.com/forums/b...-predictions-results-banter-2.html#post334632)

How are the Nomads guaranteed a spot? Isn't it the Winners of each Division and the Winner of the Presidents Cup like last year? Hypothetically, if we win our next 2 games and Inter beat you in the Final, you guys wouldn't qualify. ????

Inter has won their division, I know in the past that if the Cup winner also has won their division they have given the runner up in cup the 4th spot... I think Stallion is just prematurely assuming... ;)

Well I guess I am basing it on precedence. Last time we were in provincials that's how it was done. Since GEU has clinched, it would default to the other finalist. But since we could win our group too, it would go to the second place team with the most points, which right now is either us, BC Utd or GEU Knights.

did Guildford get a provincial spot last year? They finished second in their group behind ACBC but made the Prez cup finals and lost to the Red Devils who already clinched a provincial spot by winning their division.

It was shambles because Guildford got in initially, then PoMo apparently protested it, then they were waiting to see if the FVSL got 4 instead of 3, it's all here: http://www.takethepiss.com/forums/b...222-keith-millar-provincial-b-cup-2010-a.html

Re: 2011 BC Provincial B Cup

Looks like the 4 spots have been iced...
2A Winners: GEU Inter
2B Winners: PAU Nomads
2C Winners: LUFC Young Guns
Pres Cup finalists are Nomads and Inter, so the 4th best team points wise is 2B's GEU Knights.
They (could) I guess, give it to the winner of a playoff game of the losing semifinalists Abby v Aldy Players... but I'm not sure either team would represent the league as well as GEU Knights would...

anyone know of any history here where the Pres Cup finalists were pool winners and what happened with the 4th spot?

I can't remember the year we went with MB10, but we both won our groups and were in the finals, Peace Arch Selects got the other spot for winning their group. Maybe we only had 3 spots back then? I can't find any information on BC Soccer.

I remember that year. All 3 Valley teams were shocking badly :p
Actually Whalley and PA Selects were bad. Mission was okay.
It was 2008 in Richmond and the Dragons won it all. It's going to be strange not having them in the competition this year.

We would have been good, unfortunately it happened to be a wedding weekend so we only had 11 or 12 for each game, which doesn't work for that tournament format. Especially when it's starters you're missing.

Re: 2011 BC Provincial B Cup

Well it's official, its on the FVSL site now: GEU Knights are the FVSL's 4th entry. FVSL could do a lot of damage this year, although we'll probably end up playing each other in the first 2 rounds.

I notice the no-nads have a big name suspended for 5 games. Does that carry over to Provincials?

Thankfully no. We will miss him for the cup final unfortunately, but we have other guys that are more than stepping up.
