Game goes tonight @ 8:00PM out at the formerly named Town Centre Stadium.

Anyone here heading out to the match or is everyone going to be trying to catch up on some sleep after last night? :D

Predictions?

I'll say 2-2, all goals in the first half.

Cheers,

~Regs.

There have been rumblings that Inter and Sporting guys will be playing a limited roll due to the up-coming league final. Rumour has it 3 more players have/will be added to the roster to cover those players. None that I know of are from Surrey.

2-1 Caps

Caught most of this game....left with 5 minutes to play and it was 1 buzz for the 'Caps. Some allstars did not make the trip to Coquitlam.......no Jinky and Dennis Kindel. The additions were from Inter and Sporting.....Bunny, Mikey Tempsta, and Ryan Dormer.

First half, especially the first 20-25 minutes was dominated by the allstars, they pressured the 'Caps, it appeared the 'Caps didn't have their legs, their movement, touch, anticipation was lets say "off". Whitecaps played better in the remainder of the half, but no score. I thought Scigliano had a lot of jump in his step.

Second half, the allstars emptied their bench early, while the 'Caps kept their starting 11 until the 65-70 minute mark when they made a few subs, but had most of the nucleus in tact. Nasher scored about 10 minutes into the half.

Not overly impressed with the 'Caps performance. IMO not much of a difference between the allstars and the 'Caps on the day. If the allstars could train year-round, I think Kerfoot might want to invest in another team.:D The one Whitecap that did stand out was #4 Adrian Cann, the guy is a stud of a center back, very strong, good in the air, hard tackles and good ball distribution, I think Regs could play behind him.:D

My two cents,

Gilly

WHITECAPS DEFEAT VMSL ALL-STARS 2:0
« Back

April 12, 2007 - Vancouver Metro Soccer League All-Stars 0
Vancouver Whitecaps 2

Thursday, April 12, 2007
Percy Perry Stadium - Coquitlam, BC (attendance: 400)

Overview:

The Whitecaps downed the Vancouver Metro Soccer League All-Stars 2-0 on a cold and rainy night in Coquitlam, to raise their preseason record to 4-1-1. Martin Nash and recently acquired Jason McLaughlin both recorded their first goals of the year, while Tony Caig earned the shutout.

The All-Stars started brightly, and applied some early pressure, but the
Whitecaps gradually took control of the game. Former Vancouver
goalkeeper Paul Shepherd made some good saves against his old club in
the first half, stopping a couple of blasts from David Testo and then
blocking Alfredo Valente in close to keep it scoreless at the interval.
Brian Brum took over in goal for the All-Stars in the second half, and
early on needed his defence to twice clear off the line as Eduardo
Sebrango and then Joel Bailey were denied in close.

The Whitecaps final preseason game is on the road, Sunday, April 15
against the Portland Timbers in a 4:00 p.m. start at Alder Creek Middle
School in Milwaukie, Oregon.

Scoring Summary:

55' - Vancouver 1-0 Martin Nash (Alfredo Valente)

Valente's cross from the left found Nash to the right of goal in close,
and after taking a touch he drilled it past goalkeeper Brian Brum from a
tight angle.

90' - Vancouver 2-0 Jason McLaughlin

A loose ball fell to new signing Jason McLaughlin, and he blasted a
25-yard howitzer past the keeper.

Klein, 4.Adrian Cann, 8.Steve Kindel (27.Stefan Leslie 80'); 7.Martin

Who went besides gilly?

What was the game like? If the VMSL didn't start making subs so early, would have the outcome been different?

Looking forward to seeing the FVSL vs VMSL Allstar match!

Cheers,

~Regs.
