Old guard will never die. I was watching our U20 play Brazil and can clearly see what is wrong. First of all we played one of the best countries in the World with four three two one formation. A total disaster. Brazilians all come off of top pro clubs with skill to sell. We can not play them with four man back. They scored twice from in close with out a marker on them. Not to say we did not have a chance or two.
Coaches are making huge mistakes. Double stopper is only way for Canadian sides. Use a counter attack with three man rush. Our country would show way better results.
More so the mistake is, Canadians do not pressure ball guy. They shadow dance in front not to look out of pace. Pressure is done by two guys as soon as the opponent pushes the ball back hold shape and make them come to us. It really does not matter how many passes they make in their half. It only matters what they do in our half.
Four five guys on our team have the skill but lack of proper read makes them out of pace.
A team in NASL with total Canadian player roster is the only way forward. Half way point is Regina that is where i would run a team like that. In five years we would stand up to any country.
This will only be done by some guy that loves Canada and knows how to play political game. Cheers better luck in next U 20 game. Proud to be Canadian it does not matter what the score is. But for god sake have player names on the back of the shirts. That is why old boys club sucks.
Vick and Tony you need to think how to sell our kids to bigger clubs. Number one is the name on the back. With out it world clubs think you got the guy from the street to fill in.
