2002/03 Preseason Side B Poll

So who is gonna be playing for the league championship next spring?

How will Peg fare with Carm leaving for ACM?

I'll go with Peg here... for sentimental purposes :D

More like Sympathy Vote for a team that may not even fly this year.

This is a tough group to call, with no team looking like they could or would run away with the division.

I say a tight sea saw battle between Burnaby, Sapp., and MF, with Burnaby getting its first Premier title, OK, shot at Premier Title.

metro-ford???

Maybe you were watching a different lot than i was last year. If they have the same boys from last season, look for the New Westminister area to have a new team in the first division.
You'll have your top 2 or 3 teams and the rest will be battling in the basement.

I'm calling for Snapperton to challenge Burnaby as well as those Poaching Pork Chops for first over all. Get your own players Bastards.

I look forward to our lone meeting with Sapp. again this year always a tough one. Look for KNVB to Stuff WAB right in the mug like he should have done last year...

Poachers...

Why do you automatically assume I'm talking about Surrey United Players? Why would anyone ever want to leave Surrey.

Any news on the Caps?

Any news to report from the Canadians training camp?

Only heard a couple of rather unsubstantiated rumours...

Millar going to leave and coach at Sapperton (see WAB's post on other thread... may have been a joke?)

Darren Nott signing with another club.

The Caps seem to be getting some support to finish well this year, but there's been no reports that they've improved themselves, where it looks like others have been active.

PS... I think it might be the end of an era over at Mundy Road. :(

Darren Nott signing with another club.
Darren Nott is too fcuking fat so I highly doubt any other club would take him. He has this highly annoying taunt about back pockets as well that only works on Slurrey United players

Luke for the Caps has moved to Toronto so they also lose some creativity, well let's be honest, all the creativity they ever had.

I've heard a goalkeeper shake-up is in the cards there as well.

How some TTPers could pick them to win the side is mindboggling, especially with Millar leaving to coach Sapperton [I've heard though that he may coach Firemen in Div 1].

Regs is right for once. Notty is to damn fat to be of any use to anyone and his pocket gig is old. Plus his BBQ chicken lacks huge in the flavour department.

If it's true Miller goes to Sapp. it will make Surrey U's stuffing of them all the more sweet. I love beating Burnaby don't get me wrong, but to slap WAB around for 90 and take a chunk out of Miller all in the same day is a dream come true. I just wish HOS would move there and it would be Disneyland 87' all over again.

I've heard HOS is wanted at Club I. Any truth?

It was Disneyland 80' for me and sneaking into Chicago Tonight 87'. Did you go to Disneyland for Spring Break with Folks in the StationWagon, knvb stays free at Holiday Inn.

As for HOS's situation, the rehab, (for shoulder) not Pints, is going very well, I should be able to train in a few weeks (two). But I did get a new job that starts in late Aug., that requires me to keep flexible hours, so my commitment to training may be lacking, if it wasn't this way allready. But I am starting to get the fever for the upcoming season.

I can give no word on how things have been going in the Caps camp, because I have not talked to anyone, most of the players, coaches and managers have been on holidays and/or weddings.

From what White Shoes tells me, you already have pretty "flexible" hours.

My hours are very "flexible" right now that I am off with the shoulder, if only I was so flexibe in goal or bed, I would be in Europe or Porn.

But when I go back to work in two weeks, my flexibility will be like Davie Florvento's Hammstrings.

This is what I know

A Peg update:

London has had a change of heart and wants to stay at Peg... I don't know what Davey has said to him as I believe he had already told Kent that he would be the #1 keeper.

Everyone is coming back with the exceptions of Carm [ACM], Tee [over 30's North Shore Coach's League], Saint [knee problems and missing Roni too much], and Regs [retired from Premier :D].

Committments have apparently been made from a couple of younger players in the club to come out to the team including Adam Costley.

The rumour of Deep Cove being the team from SFC for $10,000 is just that... a bad rumour... where the fcuk is DCR gonna get $10,000?

There was another recent development that would have sent shockwaves throughout the league involving a "merging" of Peg and another high profile premier team but I don't think it will happen from the sounds of it... let's just say from what I heard [from a very reliable source] that Peg wouldn't have gotten any younger if the merge happened

First training session is tonight I think. Noteable injuries right now include Mastro who is still recovering from knee surgery and Shorty - I think it's his calf?

That's it on the Peg front for now.

Other rumblings I've heard:

Keith Heald has retired from Westside as has Simon Heald... perhaps if they are lurking about they could post a brief message on how their decisions came about...

MF is struggling... sounds like they are getting long in the tooth like a couple of other teams and Inter has raped them of their youth... perhaps Jonesy can give us an update/confirmation...

Cheers,

~Regs.

Struggling? If you want to think so...

I contemplated not posting just for the fact that having the league think one thing and things being just the opposite would work in our favor. But when the boss of the site starts to make noise... I figure I gotta say something!

We did lose some players to retirement, other teams and the Universities but this is nothing new with MF. Players move on and others take their place every year. With a youth system that we have, that can happen with very little difficulty or major transition. We also find ourselves with former players coming back! At training last night, there were at least 30-35 players out. Competition is at an all-time high - stud flying around knee level and such. My place is definitely under threat this year, but then again, it really should be.

As far as the players who are leaving, left or contemplating leaving I wish them well and good luck. They're decent guys and I personally have nothing against them...game time will be a different story!

At one time in this league (now I'm dating myself), players left teams because of demotion, irreconcilable differences or the opportunity to get a job. Now I question some of these younger players credibility of commitment, loyalty and the ability to work through difficult times.

Some players have left because of age, the desire to play with mates and they proved awesome servants to the cause. Joe, you will never be replaced! Cheers mate!

In goal, Psycho has left and while here proved a pretty good replacement for Paddles. At another club, Psycho might have been a hard guy to replace but with this club, as in the case with Paddles, the assembly line keeps rolling. Before Psycho could closed the door Tyler shows up and looks outstanding! This guy is Wicks with better feet and nicer kit! He takes a mean PK and don't be surprised if you see him in the early goalscoring leaders. My days as the PK taker may be over. I may have to take up diving after that prediction. ;)

Others were slipping down the pecking order and other teams guaranteed starting positions week in week out even if they don't make practices during the week. If I could get that promise, I'd think about leaving too but there was no way they were ever going to get that here. My guess is that these players are in for a huge shock when reality sets in. Either that or the new boys AC Milan will be increasing their Italian roster as the weeks go by. I wouldn't sit on the bench behind a guy who struggled to see the starting line-up on another team and was guaranteed a starting spot from a rookie coach - no matter what!

As for Corazza, we already prepared to do without him as he heads off to University. He does spend his rookie year and the next couple of months with at least 5 MF players up at SFU and if he thinks they are going to go easy on him on rookie night, he's sadly mistaken. Where he ends up will be decided only in time. We'll see. No disrespect to the Inter guys but, it's a lateral move - at best!

We have another young kid in camp that could take the league by storm the way that Jamie Fletcher did before he headed off to Australia a couple of years back. This kid is big, fast (and I mean lightning), skilled, can play many different positions and can score. I wouldn't want him running at me if I were stuck out wide or at the back. He's raw but definately one for the future.

There was this rumour going around that MF has come into some money and was looking to buy another CAT team. Inter were rumoured to be up for sale at the end of last season and MF were going to buy them and use them as our CAT team. With so many former MF youth players there, it does make sense! ;)

Jonesy magic.

Question: is Psycho SU's X psycho keeper or did you get another? That young guy of yours did well last year, I thought.

Right now ACM is rubbing their collect hands together look for disgruntled WOP's with no home. Here's a combo for ya. Mr. Coppertone and The Apprentice up front. Shocking.

Holiday and Pipo in red and black.
