Vikings player dies from heat stroke
(Aug 1) MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Pro Bowl tackle Korey Stringer died Wednesday of heat stroke, a day after collapsing at the Minnesota Vikings' training camp on the hottest day of the year.

Stringer vomited at least three times during Tuesday morning's practice but didn't summon a trainer until the drills had ended. The 335-pound lineman developed symptoms of heat stroke, including weakness and rapid breathing, following the practice held in temperatures in the low 40s and high humidity.

Stringer was unconscious when he arrived at Immanuel St. Joseph's-Mayo Health System in Mankato and had a temperature of more than 40 C.

His organs failed throughout the day and he never regained consciousness before dying at 1:50 a.m.

I didn't post the whole article. It was saying that they weren't having an overly tough practice. Do you think this guy might have had some other problems to help the heat stroke along?

No matter what it is though, it is a tragic situation for all involved, and your right, there will most defenately(sp?) be a lawsuit.

I saw the news report on TSN, Moss and Carter were visibly and reasonably shaken up.

I would imagine when your 335 lbs, that it would contribute to the death, but unless you are hinting toward drug use, I am slow on this one and not getting your hint

From a very close source (they were teammates), Stringer was a clean living fella, who was very well liked. The problem here was his weight, which was ongoing, the extreme heat and his pride.

Although I can't argue about the coaching staff, being wankers nor would I want to. I whole heartidly agree, but I still hope and think they will have a decent season.

If they score 50+ points a game or their defense does a 180.

I have to confess, I have always like the Vikes. Since the days of Chuck Foreman and Fran "The Man". I still think that the poor team will suffer dearly because of Stringers death.
