I agree that they need to show patience w/ the Sisters. At least they are solid defensively, unlike Druken who couldn't be rellied uppon in his own end of the ice.

That said, a conditioning stint down to the Moose couldn't hurt these guys...just so they can experience riding the busses, and sleeping in Motel 6 for a week. But, only after or when the 'Nucks hit a losing skid. Don't mess with the line-up right now.

The Game Gonch Theory

Ok - I understand patience for the sistas, but how long does one have to be in the league before they are expected to perform? Yes they are young, but it is their 3rd year... when do they become good?
Other players would be traded at this point, however, being that the induction of the sedins was such a big deal, Burke is less likely to do something about it.
They need a change - if it is the Moose - then so be it. They need a wake up call and a break from being Tuzzi's towel boys.

It's funny - as soon as the canucks lose a game (knock on wood), all of a sudden it will be real easy to point fingers... but until then, the sedins are like that old pair of game gonch with holes and skidmarks that you continually wear because it is "lucky"

we all have a pair of those...

Henrik in his game gonch:knvb:

sedins....again,

They're still just kids. Look how long it took for Naslund to get it together. Now I'm not saying they're going to become superstars, but they still need a chance to mature.....besides, who are you going to replace them with? And to send them to the Moose, they would have to clear waivers, couldn't see that happening.

Skudra, Canucks win nighth straight game

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Vancouver Canucks extended their franchise-record winning streak to nine games with a 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night.

Backup goalie Peter Skudra made 32 saves and Daniel Sedin scored a tie-breaking power-play goal in the third period.

Markus Naslund, Murray Baron and Marek Malik also scored for the Canucks, who are 11-1 in November. It's the first 11-win month in team history.

Martin St. Louis had two goals for Tampa Bay. His second got the Lightning even at 3 with 8:14 left in the third.

The Canucks went back ahead at 13:49 on Sedin's goal from just outside the crease. Trevor Linden added an empty net goals with 26.9 seconds to play.

Brad Richards had the other Tampa Bay goal.

Vancouver rested goalie Dan Cloutier for the front end of back-to-back games at Tampa Bay and Florida. Cloutier started the previous eight games, recording a 1.88 goals-against-average.

It was the first time Vancouver has played in Tampa since acquiring Cloutier from the Lightning in a February 2001 trade.

Skudra made just his second start and fourth appearance of the season. He stopped an in-close chance by Vincent Lecavalier and made a sliding save on Richards during a 2-on-1 in a one-minute span midway through the second period.

Skudra also robbed Vaclav Prospal on a point-blank chance in the final minute of the third.

The Lightning took a 2-1 first-period lead on power-play goals by Richards and St. Louis. The Canucks entered the game with the league's top penalty-killing unit.

Naslund had a power-play goal in the first. Baron tied it at 2 just 1:03 into the second session with his first goal in 39 games.

Malik gave Vancouver a 3-2 lead later in the second period on his first goal in 40 games.

amazing run

well, if there are any skeptics who have been hurt and let down one too many a time by an inconcistent vancouver hockey club, I would like to say that the wagon is safe to board, theres still room and this canucks squad is headed in the right direction. Yes, I know, there are those who, for the life of them, will not come aboard......Have no fear...time heals all wounds. I beleive a new trend is taking place among our somewhat cursed city when it comes to proffesional clubs. We see a concistency from the canucks that warrants applause and support. 9 in a row has me, a long time fan and one who has been heart broken by the utterly pathetic hockey that has plagued the canucks in the past, feeling excited and renewed with hope. Dare I say...Stanley Cup??? Could it be possible?? I want desperatly to beleive and if we take a hard look at the numbers and the way these guys are playing, I would have to say that the conditions are just right for one to throw their heart towards this improved team. I will cheer and I will support and I will hope as the season progresses. And last but not least, I will beleive that this canucks team can break the record for consecutive wins in a row. If there ever was a time to let go of the past dissapointments of shattered hockey dreams, it is now.

well don Canucks....I'm a fan

Being a Canucks fan is demanding.

When they are playing poorly, the doubters, (who see a track record which justifies their doubt) will always want to see the whole team traded. When they are playing well, the blind followers start imposing impossible goals and invariably jinx the team by planning the fukcing parade route.

There is a long way to go yet. Why don't we simply enjoy the ride when we are playing good hockey and winning?

And why don't we relax when we are in our annual slump?

The average Canucks fan needs some Prozac. We are the manic depressives of sport.

Plenty of highs and plenty of lows and after 30 odd years we still don't know how to deal with them.

Go Canucks Go all the same !!

Everything you say is very true there Jinky. The Vancouver Fans and media are both to blame for this. We expect Stanley Cups eventhough we have never won one, and when we are winning there is always something wrong or that needs to be different in our eyes. But in saying that, isn't that what being a cannuck or any other teams supporter or fan is about?

Let's just enjoy the ride!!

Just to further the "relaxation" of Canuck fans theme.

Nobody can argue that Dan Cloutier has been the MVP to date this year, but I've got a scenario that will make you nod in agreement.

Let's say the 'Nucks win the last three games of the road trip. That isn't really far fetched considering the way they're playing. And let's say Cloutier stands on his head in all three games and single handedly wins all three. Once again, this is plausible.

Fast forward to the next home game. Cloutier lets in two goals in the first five minutes. You all know what will happen. The next shoot in from outside the blueline that he easily turns aside will draw sarcastic cheers from a handful of yahoos in the crowd.

We are a fickle bunch in this city. If a player (not named Snepsts, Smyl or Linden) has an off night, the late night talk shows are filled with calls talking about "trading dat bum!!!" Why can't we just slow down, have a beer, and put our feet up on the couch (or the bar stool) just in time for the puck to drop. When the game ends, grab the remote and see what else is on and forget about it.

That's what Monkeys do.

Monkey I agree, somewhat

Nucks fans are that way because of all the loses that we have to put up with.
Our greatest memories are Cup runs that fell short, how many teams have that as greatest mamories.

As for Cloutier, I will now put him in to the same catagory as Kirk, "King" Richard, and Glen. the Nucks have never had the best keeping, but they have allways had great personalities in goal, and Dan the Man fits right in with that.

How many keeper do you know that fight players in practice, or even drop the gloves during home games. He is a keeper, and I hope the city recognizes that.

I say that the Band-Wagon is Full, until you pass a test of trivia about the lossing years of the Nucks, then you are a true fan.

Finding a way to win!

Granted the Nucks don't have the all-star line up like a NY or Detroit...The true test for a championship team is finding a way to win! Depth of skill on the bench is 1/2 the battle...after that, it all boils down to confidence and mental strength. Stepping onto the ice (or park in a footballers case), thinking you will win is like having an extra attacker!

The nucks are showing that now and are well on their way...just as long as their heads don't get too big for their helmets!
