Ok, Sir M is going to have to keep this week's edition of Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings rather short. Much like Dickens actually. Consider this week's edition kind of like JAGS after his recent cleanse: leaner, but less entertaining. Having said that, here we go after a two week break, with this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings, 2008-2009.

1. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week's rank: 1). Stay the same: annoying.

2. RCIU (VMSL. Last week's rank: 6). Up four, signings.

3. Columbus FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 3). Columbus stay the same, much like SCK's hair since 1985.

4. West Van FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 4). WVFC had a big win, and then a bad second half letdown last week.

5. Surrey United (VMSL. Last week's rank: 2) . Surrey Utd are down three after a bad loss followed by a cup win.

6. Surrey FC Rangers (FVSL. Last week's rank: 7). SFC had a nice win over Mission on the weekend. It has now come to that for them I guess.

7. West Side (VMSL. Last week's rank: 5). Westside must qualify via cup for the BCs.

8. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 11 ). DMU are in first place in the FVSL Masters.

9. PCOV (VMSL. Last week's rank: 8). PCOV need to battle now for a BCs spot. But this year, as opposed to last, they are interested in competing this time of year.

10. Aldergrove (FVSL. Last week's rank: 12). Aldergrove won, move up and should not be taken lightly.

11. Wickham FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 14). Wickham are a team that has their home games in the Anti-Fan's backyard.

12. PAU White (FVSL. Last week's rank: 17). They have recently acquired a part time under age striker from Mexico. Hence the ascendance.

13. Vikings (NSCL. Last week's rank: 20). The Vikings had a big win on the weekend. Not as big of a win as discovering North America, but, nonetheless, a win.

14. Mission Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: 9). Mission got hammered on the weekend. A bit like JAGS, Eagles, Sir M, Steve et al on Saturday actually.

15. Cliff Avenue (VMSL. Last week's rank: 10). Cliff need some help now.

16. Coveside FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 13). Coveside need to start playing at some point.

17. PAU Blue (FVSL. Last week's rank: 15). This team's recent loss drops them. They will be battling, perhaps with their club mates, for that third BCs spot out of the FVSL.

18. Metro Ford Firefighters (VMSL. Last week's rank: 18). MFFF are going down, but still have a chance to qualify for Provincial Cup play via the cup route.

19. Roma (NSCL. Last week's rank: not ranked). Roma are looking as if they may make their debut appearance in the BCs this year. That will be exciting for them.

20. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week's rank: 16). It appears, based on recent results, that this team may have packed it in. They have one more chance this upcoming weekend.

So, sorry for no rankings last week, and the abbreviated version this week, as Sir M has been quite busy. However, I would like to say:

Best of luck to all teams involved in Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings this coming week.

Sir M.

Sir M.

Yes it looks that way, and it's too bad because I thought this team was pretty good at times. I would like to see them get something out of this year. Perhaps a Cup run and scare the hell out of all the "bubble" teams:)

Smallsy, what I meant was, you are not in yet. So, the cup (involving you or not involving you) will determine things for West Side. I have not actually evaluated it completely, as I am not a fanatic about it, but I believe that is the case.

Cheers, Sir M.

So, it is all coming down to it here at the rankings. There are Provincial spots on the line, trips to Sunpeaks and the casino on the agenda, big players going missing, and all of the usual mischief that comes with late winter/early spring. There is also very sad news, but Sir M will refer to that a bit later. In the meantime, it is now, once again time for this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings, 2008-2009.

1. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week's rank: 1). Sapperton beat SU 2-0, and that, coupled with their defeat of West Van last weekend sends a message to all SMEPR fans out there: they will not be easily moved. A bit like RF from the buffet. (Sorry big guy, I could not resist. I will make it up to you later). Home to Wickham next, in a game which staff report may be a bit worrying for the Sapp side; hence the late game change tactics.

2. RCIU (VMSL. Last week's rank: 2). They made short work of Div 1 Meralomas. PCOV Friday, that should be a good one.

3. Columbus FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 3). Columbus beat Inter on PKs. 22nd Avenue Lions next.

4. West Van FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 4). WVFC beat Alemania on the weekend, and are up against the ever feisty SFU Royals on Saturday afternoon at Ambleside.

5. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 8). DMU move up after an emphatic 3-0 win over PAU White on the weekend. They are now in the BCs. Aldergrove next. That should be pleasant.

6. PCOV (VMSL. Last week's rank: 9). PCOV beat Westside on the weekend, and that is nothing to be sneezed at. Home to Richmond on Friday...MOTW?

7. Surrey FC Rangers (FVSL. Last week's rank: 6). SFC did not play, but had a pretty big loss it turns out week before last :(. More on that later. Abbotsford next.

8. Surrey United (VMSL. Last week's rank: 5) . Surrey Utd has their work cut out for them now I am afraid. They play Cliff Avenue next, another team that is up against it.

9. Mission Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: 14). Mission had some redemption this last weekend, defeating PAU Blue. In the process, they have qualified for the BCs out of the FVSL. PAU Blue again this week, in a kind of a double treat.

10. West Side (VMSL. Last week's rank: 7). Not a good result for Westside this last week at all. MFFF next, this side is in a dogfight for the BCs now.

11. Wickham FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 11). Wickham beat MFF 3-2 on Friday. Their game this coming Friday will go a long way to deciding their BCs fate.

12. Aldergrove (FVSL. Last week's rank: 10). Aldergrove did not play. DMU next.

13. Coveside FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 16). Coveside made a big NSCL statement on the weekend, defeating Vikings by a 3-2 score. Up three, and they play Roma next.

14. Cliff Avenue (VMSL. Last week's rank: 15). Cliff did not play. They need a miracle.

15. Roma (NSCL. Last week's rank: 19). Roma beat Nordic 3-0 on the weekend, and have laser lock now on a BCs qualification. Coveside next, in what should be quite the examination for both sides. For both side's sake, we hope their is no mathematics involved. Or spelling.

16. PAU White (FVSL. Last week's rank: 12). Their loss on the weekend drops PAU White. LUFC next, in a black and white affair.

17. Metro Ford Firefighters (VMSL. Last week's rank: 18). MFFF get points for battling on the weekend. West Side next.

18. Vikings (NSCL. Last week's rank: 13). The Vikings lost, and drop. They probably will make the BCs though. NAFC next.

19. PAU Blue (FVSL. Last week's rank: 17). This team lost to Mission, and will probably not be going to the Provincials. Mission again, it appears.

20. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week's rank: 20). Inter gave it a really good try this last week. This should not have happened.

But then again, our favourite big Scottish Ranger's fate should not have happened either.

So anyway, good luck to all rankings sides this week. But more importantly, RF my friend, get well soon, and heres to seeing you back on the pitch.

Sir M.

Queens Park will be closed on Friday, hence the move. But I don't think the turf will help nor hinder Sapp. From all accounts, Wickham is a tough, hard working side and worthy of the high ranking.

The turf will be like homefield advantage for Wickham, as they play all their home games on a turf field. Plus with the snow and artic chill that has just come in, Wickham will definitely feel like their at home on the cold North Shore! Due to these unforseen circumstances I am now picking Wickham over Sapp by very close score, maybe even overtime.

PCOV are rolling at the right time and will beat RCIU by 2 on friday!

Columbus already took care of the premier team in a close one. Now they take on Inter's farm team 22nd ave Lions. I say the Lion "will roar no more" after this weekend, Columbus in a close one again.

WV will get back on track, after their scare from last week against Alemania. SFU will battle hard but again WV will find a way to win.

Don't almost all of us play Friday night chillers on turf? We've played more than half our games on the stuff including 8 night games.

Conductor, where's your head? You don't predict Cup games on the Rankings thread.

News Flash to Sir M fans worldwide. This week, due to developments in the Sir M Power Rankings Region, this week's edition will be severely abbreviated.

But here we go now with this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings, 2008-2009.

1. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week's rank: 1). Sapperton beat Wickham 3-2. Home to SU next.

2. Columbus FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 3). Columbus beat 22nd Ave Lions by a lot on the weekend. Home to Westside next. Staff predict a Westside victory in that one, but of course staff predicted that Reedie would never sign with RCIU Masters.

3. West Van FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 4). WVFC beat SFU on the weekend, and do not play this week.

4. PCOV (VMSL. Last week's rank: 6). PCOV beat up on RCIU on the weekend, and are through to the semis in VMSL Masters Cup. No game this week though. Staff are suddenly paying attention. That is a real comment on their judgement.

5. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 5). DMU defeated Aldergrove 3-1 on the weekend. Not sure if/who they play this coming weekend.

6. RCIU (VMSL. Last week's rank: 2). They drop after their game against a VMSL Masters Premier side last week. No game coming up this week.

7. Surrey FC Rangers (FVSL. Last week's rank: 7). SFC did not play again, as far as I know, this week. Back right into it versus PAU Blue this coming week though.

8. Surrey United (VMSL. Last week's rank: 8) . Surrey Utd did not play. Sapperton next.

9. West Side (VMSL. Last week's rank: 17). Westside make a move up, despite some fans having a fading interest of late. But, this week, a chance for resurgence: Columbus.

10. PAU Blue (FVSL. Last week's rank: 19). This team jumps way up after a big win over Mission. SFC Rangers next. Big game.

11. Wickham FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 11). Wickham suffered their first loss of the year last week when they had to play a higher division team. They had a great year though.

12. Mission Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: 9). Mission are hard to predict, go figure. A loss on the weekend drops them. White Rock next.

13. Roma (NSCL. Last week's rank: 15). Roma continue their ascendance after their defeat of Coveside on the weekend. Congrats on winning the NSCL to this side.

14. Aldergrove (FVSL. Last week's rank: 12). Aldergrove lost to SFC. It is not currently known when they play next.

15. Cliff Avenue (VMSL. Last week's rank: 14). Cliff did not play. MFFF next.

16. Coveside FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 13). Coveside lost an important game on the weekend. Unclear what is next for this team.

17. PAU White (FVSL. Last week's rank: 16). They lost. Not known if they play next week at this point.

18. Metro Ford Firefighters (VMSL. Last week's rank: 17). MFFF did not play. Cliff next.

19. Vikings (NSCL. Last week's rank: 18). The Vikings won on a forfeit. Unknown opponent next.

20. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week's rank: 20). Sir M loves Inter. This should not have happened.

Thats it, see you next week.

Sir M.

Your right about being tough to figure out. A last minute reschedule of the game meant we started the game with 10 men. A pulled hamstring halfway through the first half and we're down to 9 1/2. A late comer and we're at 10 1/2 for the second half but a poor showing by us. Full marks to PAU Blue for talking advantage of our lack of manpower. Good thing we had 16 guys out against White Rock ;).
