Sir M, just to clarify, Nordic actually beat Norvan on Sunday 1-0 in the 98th minute, and were lucky to do so!

!:D

1st 20 minutes Norvan hardly saw the ball, some dodgy substitutions and a whole pile at once saw Nordic fall into a scrambled mess. Could have been 4 nil by then had it not been for some good goal keeping. Norvan had a number of chances after that as did Nordic......our goal was lucky though as the Norvan keeper failed to control a shot right at him slipping under his belly and crossing the line by inches.

Hello again SMEPR fans. Staff this week have been whipped back into shape and are in a position it appears to offer up a, relatively speaking, early edition of this week's rankings. So, like a December 20th Christmas present, or to describe Dicken's sexual performance...premature...here we go with this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings:

1. Surrey United (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 1). This team, a bit like SDCMTC's two greatest assets once the La Senza comes off, stays in their spot this week. Defeated Metroford by a 3-1 score this weekend, and are away to Columbus in a game that Masters Football fans hope that is not postponed.

2. Cliff Ave. United (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 2). Stay the same (read in: annoying) after this week's dismissal of Cracovia. Away to Firefighters next.

3. S.F.C. Rangers (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 5). A tidy defeat of PAU on the weekend moves this side up two spots. Home to DMU on Friday.

4. Columbus F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 3). Another in a series of postponements for Columbus this week. At home to Surrey Utd. next, in a replay of one of last year's Provincial semi-final matches. They need to play this week, staff report. Otherwise there will be insufficient data for a proper ranking for next week. Repeatedly not playing at this rankings level means dropping. Unfortunately.

5. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 6). Staff are really struggling with properly ranking some of these FVSL sides, as there appears to me a marked dichotomy in the level of play in that league. There is also, it appears, quite a difference in the level of play of the top half and lower half of the standings. But staff are going to give them this spot. For now. Away to SFC next.

6. West Van F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 8). Defeated PCOV on Friday and are up against Cracovia this coming Friday afternoon.

7. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 4). These guys drop after their loss on the weekend. Staff report that missing a couple of players is not a valid excuse if a team wants to contend for the top level of these rankings. Postponed this weekend coming up.

8. Westside F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 11). Even though this side did not play this weekend north of the equator, the fact that they did not lose moves them up. This side is part of a very close knit club, even if some are not actually a fanatic about it. Postponed again this coming weekend though, which is a recipe for dropping in the rankings.

9. Portuguese Club of Vancouver (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 7). Drop two spots after their loss on the weekend. Wickham next at home, could move up.

10. Wickham FC (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 13). This team plays, and when they play, they smoke. And when they smoke, they drink. And when they drink, they enhance their personality. As much as can be expected anyway. Won again this weekend, and play PCOV away next.

11. Peace Arch United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 9). This side lost this weekend by a 2-0 score. They have to right the ship and figure out if they are going to contend this year now. They should be able to start over in White Rock on the weekend.

12. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 17). Back up in an area which they belong after beating Firefighters. Away to Metroford next. Need to dismiss this relegation issue.

13. Aldergrove United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 14). Up one spot after a hard fought draw against the Mighty All Blacks on the weekend. Away way out there in Mission this weekend.

14. Nordic FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 12). Another team that did not play, and as a result, drops in these rankings. Away to Coveside next.

15. Vancouver Firefighters (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 10). This is another side that, week to week, is very tough to predict. Were handled easily (by this side's standards) on the weekend, hence the drop. Home to Cliff next. A result will put this proud side back in the top ten of these rankings.

16. Coquitlam Metro Ford Wolves (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 15). Staff are struggling to find optimistic things to say about this team currently, and their loss to Surrey Utd. does not help things. Home to Sapp next, and they need points there to get right out of the relegation zone.

17. Langley All Blacks (FVSL. Last week's rank: 18). Up one after a dirty tie against Aldergrove in an all way the fcuk out there battle on the weekend. Home to Sikh next.

18. Sikh (FVSL. Last week's rank: not ranked). This team played on the weekend and won in Sikhfantastic fashion: 6-1 over Abbotsford. Hence, they are back in the top twenty. Away to LAB on Friday.

19. Cracovia (VMSL. Last week's rank: 16). This team, very much like SCDMTC Blonde, was waxed in North Burnaby this last weekend. They, again in a bit of a parallel, host West Van this Friday evening. Will have to work at it to stay in the top twenty, staff advise.

20. Coveside FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 20). Staff advise that not losing is better than not playing. So Coveside narrowly maintain their spot. Home to Nordic next. A chance to move up.

So there you go for this week. Talk amongst yourselves.

Sir M.

Sir M.

That's not entirely true Sir M, although some of the guys and gals are certainly into tight knitting, there has been a rash of macreme recently post-practice and the participants are quite keen indeed! Very close to fanatical. And also very loose. Here's a shot of Cindy who coaches one of the Westside women's teams and her deadball target for hanging in the corner of the net, top-shelf where grandma keeps the peanut butter...

If we are going to have Westside pictures, can we not stick to the Boca theme? Unless we see a macrame thong this Thursday night, I suggest sending them down to GEU territory.

Wickham below Inter, a team with only 3 wins that we just beat. Seriously? I know Wickham were missing their two best players...

Hey Colemanj. You need to earn your stripes. Stay in Masters awhile and then maybe you'll climb a bit. Just a bit.

So there has been a bit of a shakeup in this week's rankings, and as a result, a bit of acrimony on some fronts. A bit like a certain WVFC players cold shoulder and spiced tongue breakfast after the following weekend activities:

Friday, 2015 hrs: Finish game at BLSCW. Straight over to changeroom A at Ambleside. Shower and multiple pints, watch a bit of the Prem game.

2130 hrs: Few more pints in the changeroom.

2300 hrs: Cactus West, bite to eat, multiple drinks.

Saturday, 0045 hrs: The Lair of the Cougar. Jagrs.

0100 hrs: Lynnwood. Cocktails. Various team mates are refused service and/or admission.

0200 hrs: Travel to another team mate's house nearby, for foosball and a drink or two.

0430 hrs: Taxi home.

0435 hrs: Numerous posts on TTP. Many spelling mistakes.

0500 hrs: Fall asleep with half eaten food on chest.

Sir M notices that this is getting a bit long, so will postpone a description of Saturday's related activities until next week. But now, it is time again for this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings:

1. Columbus F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 4). Back on top after knocking off last week's #1 ranked side. Perhaps this ranking will improve some people's mood on the VMSL Master's thread. Derby match against Inter next.

2. Cliff Ave. United (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 2). Hold their spot after a 2-1 defeat of Firefighters last weekend. Home to West Van at 0900 next Sunday in Burnaby. Give me strength.

3. S.F.C. Rangers (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 3). Maintain their spot, despite some person to person lobbying of Sir M, after a nice win over Delta Metro United on the weekend. Away to Aldergrove next. A win might move them up, or down, or they may stay in the same spot in these rankings.

4. Surrey United (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 1). Some may say that this drop in the rankings for this side may be a bit harsh. But much like SDMTCBlonde (where is she these days anyway? AntiFan have you heard?)...they can take a hit. Home to Sapperton next.

5. West Van F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 6). Up one spot after their win on the weekend. They play Cliff on Sunday at a time when many WV players have not even finished throwing up. This side it has been pointed out recently lost to Surrey Rangers three years ago in the BCs in a quarter or semi-final game. I cannot remember.

6. Portuguese Club of Vancouver (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 9). Back up in lofty territory after their defeat of red hot Wickham this last weekend. Away to Cracovia next week, in a game where they have an opportunity to get another three much needed points.

7. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 7). No change after no game this past weekend for this side. Inter vs Columbus next.

8. Westside F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 8). See above. Except they are away to Wickham next. This team is part of a very large and diverse club (many men's and women's teams etc), that usually support eachother.

9. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 5). This team drops after their loss last weekend. They are at home to White Rock on this weekend coming up, and staff are predicting a win for DMU in that one.

10. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 12). Another jump for Sapperton this week after their win against Metro Ford. They seem to be getting many more players out of late, although some have rather stringent bail conditions. Staff still believe that this side can be top ten. Oh, they are:eek:. In any event, they are away to SU next, which should be a very good game.

11. Peace Arch United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 11). This side did right the ship this weekend, but did it against, with all due respect, a bit of a whipping boy of the FVSL this last weekend. Home to Abbotsford next.

12. Wickham FC (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 10). Drop two spots after their loss on Sunday to PCOV. Staff question whether they are deep enough. That question applies to many of us, now that I think about it. Home to Westside next, in another VMSL very interesting matchup this weekend. Staff think some of the Wickham players need to get a shift off for this one.

13. Vancouver Firefighters (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 15). In a bit of a rankings anomaly (much like a certain big WV striker making an appearance at training), FF actually move up after a hard fought 1 goal loss to Cliff on the weekend. Away to Metro Ford next, and that is a chance to renew old aquaintances, and a chance to move up in these rankings.

14. Mission F.C. Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: not ranked). Staff happily report that this team, which has blue uniforms (what are the odds of that happening?), are back in these rankings after a big win over a tough Aldergrove side on the weekend. Home to the much feared All Blacks next.

15. Coveside FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 20). This team finally played, and certainly showed their stuff, by knocking off Nordic on the weekend. Home to the storied Lynn Valley Aztecas next, in a rivalry which already has a bit of history to it.

16. Langley All Blacks (FVSL. Last week's rank: 17). Up one more spot after Sikh on the weekend. Away out in Mission next.

17. Coquitlam Metro Ford Wolves (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 16). Staff are struggling to find optimistic things to say about this team currently, and this side's 4-1 loss to Sapp on the weekend does not help. Home to Firefighters next, in another tough one.

18. Nordic FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 14). Lost to Coveside on Sunday, but staff report that they should be able to right the Nordic ship (powered by 32 rowing slaves) soon. Oh, maybe next week...they are postponed this week. It is a bit dodgy for them as to whether or not they stay in these rankings as a result. We will have to see.

19. Aldergrove United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 18). Down one more spot after their loss to Mission this last weekend. Host SFC next. A win would be a guaranteed move up in these rankings for this team.

20. Cracovia (VMSL. Last week's rank: 19). This team, very much like SCDMTC Blonde, was waxed in North Burnaby this last weekend. Again. And that has got to be painful. Home to PCOV next, in which they need a result in order to stay in these rankings.

So there you have the rankings for this week. Good luck to everyone.

Coach - you guys really need to play some teams week in and week out in the VMSL so we can compare ourselves to the high standard that you set for the Masters level. Perhaps you could go with only ten men and give us a chance.... I'm trying to remember the result of a game we played in 1992 and thought you might have a record of it - can you look it up in your scrap book and tell me the result .......

Has anyone else noticed that there are not enough ties anymore? This is too easy, we don't even need these rankings anymore.

Get stuck in out there this weekend, and let's see some real battles. Nothing wrong with a good 1-1 game -- let's make Sir M and staff work a little.

Leave the easy winning ways for SFC and the FVSL boys.

Why would you want to live up to the North Shore League expectations.

1992 eh Taxman?
About the time we received our 2nd set of initials.
You looked somewhat pale at the commencement ceremony at the Plaza of Nations that day I recall.
Like you hadn't seen the sun in the three years since the last commencement ceremony when we had our picture taken together on the hill.
I suppose three years under your Boss' desk would do that to a guy...

Okay so what is it?

Fvsl vs Vmsl all over again.

We now will debate who has the better teams will we?

Surrey U is a very good team in the Metro League. They were a very good team back in the Fvsl.

They got beat back then by teams like Us and Aldergrove just like everyone else.

Last year Aldergrove knocked off Westside and the Catliff boys in the B C' s.

Should Aldergrove not be playing in the Vmsl now.

If we had it our way we would have a combined super league.......but we don't.

So go ahead and blow your almighty Vmsl horn.....The bottom line is who wins the B C 's boys.

Only one team will be the best and every league has a few teams that can win it all.

Get over your "Oh we play in the Metro League status"

If you or your team want a game, we will play you boys anytime, anywhere.

We play in the Valley because we live in the Valley and have always played there.

Good god man.........The only reason we have won the last two out of three years is beacause we hide in the Valley:rolleyes:

We will play any of you any time........Any place..........Really.

So go ahead Sir M and rank the Metro teams above us all just like you did last year.

The only games you see Sir M are the Metro League games.

Who have you seen Sir M? What Valley games have you seen?

Your posts are classic..........Your rankings are nothing but a fairy tale.

In other words..............How can you post about teams you have no clue about?

I thought so...........

Oh yeah............Carry on pal
