Ouch..........Overpass Collapse

Just saw this news bit.
Apparently the ped overpass on Lougheed and Chilko in Coquitlam has collapsed and killed the driver of the garbage truck that was passing underneath.

Just to make a note, the article does mention that the garbage truck struck the overpass, and that is the cause of the collapse.

My mom just missed being hit by it.... she witnessed the whole thing.

And they're keeping that chunk of Lougheed Hwy closed until tomorrow morning.... traffic must have been chaotic today!

roomate saw it and said the garbage truck had its prongs still up while driving.....one of those smithrite (sp?) trucks that loads from the front end. One tarp over truck = trouble for the driver.

Anyone see the picture on the front of the Vancouver Sun this morning?
Bad taste i thought. Pretty graphic picture of the driver pinned in the cab of the truck.
