REPORT: FORMER MADRID MANAGER FLORO TO COACH CANADA

TORONTO -- Veteran Spanish manager Benito Floro is expected to be introduced Friday as coach of the Canadian men's soccer team.

Floro's appointment was reported by Marca, a Spanish national daily sports newspaper.

The Canadian Soccer Association confirmed it will introduce its new coach Friday morning in Toronto but declined comment on the report or Floro.

Rergs Benito is a good coach. First team will be his and his sons. U23 will most likely be Miller and Tony Fonseca. U 2o and down as is or he might bring in his people for development. This is a big move by Victor. It's about time.
We have to change our soccer to be able to play against Worlds best. No more easy time for US and rest of the teams in our group.

Wo Regs our National Mens Soccer team lost to some unknown country. It is the sad thing to see. Last kick in the game guy smokes the ball from thirty yards in top corner. We play Mexico on Thursday check in on TSN page time of the game 8 pm our time. New coach must be spiting red. Miler looks totally hurt by that loss.

Add a loss to Mexico and it looks even more sick for our guys. That second goal is something to watch. I say refs are bought even at that high level.

Match ended nil-nil

  • Benito Floro said e'one played well. Per match, "there are parts that went well, others that we will need to improve"
  • Benito Floro:"this was a training match for us, but done so with the seriousness and structure of an international match"
  • Benito Floro: "we are teaching players to play together, so of course that won’t happen all in one match."
Benito Floro will switch his roster for the next match on Tuesday (players that didn't dress today will dress on Tuesday)

Same old storey. They loose again and again. Deguzman for capitain we lost before we played. It realy make do point to even say why. We all know why. New coaches are needed in a U13 camp with 1200 kids playing. Kids need to spend summers across in Europe or Africa to learn the game. This is my plan. Coach from each country take on 15 kids. They form a Tournament place in three locations across Canada. Kids play from April till November. It will come out who the best kids are. National coach overlooks the format. We haveto start fresh. It might take ten years but at the end we will have men that can hold their own against World power. Three four teams go to Europe and spend time in soccer development camps. Our pace is not good enough and we all know it. Pace is nothing more that the ball pass from player to player. Ours is slow for what we face in International games. Our guys are not ready. Up to U17 we stand not bad but from twenty on we stand way behind.

We need a League to play in.
No League = No development.
Name another Country in the World with no League to play in.

CSL would have been a good feeder league for players to move on to MLS & Europe.
When we had 10 teams in the league, there was about 250 players playing and training at a good standard.
A lot of players moved on to Europe and MLS.
Now we have no chance to develop players, as there is nowhere to play.

The Commissioner of the CSL went to the CSA ( Kevin Pipe ) and asked for help to save the League, as it was in danger of folding, due to the cost of travel.
He asked for the CSA to add $1.00 per player who is registered in Canada and that would be more than enough to "subsidize the league, until it became fiscally sound.
The answer was "NO".
Now we have no league.
For the $1.00 the kids would get free admission to the CSL games. Not a bad deal?

MLS was subsidized for about 10 years, until the clubs could stand on their own feet and look at them now.

All of the players that go through the Academies at TFC, Whitecaps and Montreal should move up and play in a CSL, if we had a league.
Now they all go through the academy program and go to "pub league soccer".
What chance have we got?
We can talk about development all you like, but unless they have a platform to ply their trade, there will be no development and we will continue to go backwards.

What can you say. Jigsaw's comments are COMPLETELY valid! MLS is currently not addressing this problem for Canadian players. Even if the CAPS make an effort to accomodate to get CDN players into lineup, there will not be enough spots to make a difference. Not even going to address the fact that I don't think their head coach is the right guy to oversee the development. Head coach should establish philosophy? No?

Ballbaby tell me somthing. What the frack is Whitecap acadamy for if the head coach will not use any Canadian kids. Head coach is lost as of few weeks ago. He is starting to turn on his own players. Men can only do so much. Mid is as slow as slugs. They do not have a guy that goes in to win fifty fifty balls. In my opinion all they do is dance on the ball. Club hastoo instill youth in the lineup and lift the spirit of the team.
Team is flat tierd and spining wheels. They have a good keeper and three guys in the back line. Two mids that have to do dirty work just don't do it. Up top we need two youngsters just running at other clubs. Our pace is not good enough to beat American sides.

Vatican city is where hell came from Palistine. Sone of god treyd to fix it and they sprong him on the cross. It's all got nothing to do with Caps. Caps coach would be gone after ten games if it was Vatican or Palistinian team.
One guy said they lack in skill. Dam true. But mostley in balls to play the game full out under high heat and humidity. Some guys are just spinining wheels. Bob has to add a guy or two from south American countries that can handle the humidity.
Coach is always moter mouthing guys. Players shot off if they get that five days a week. Nick Dasovic is in St Jose. That guy would have done a better job than Rennie. But again we give jobs to forners not as good as our own guys. Same goes for Canadian players. Give them a chanc they will make us proud.
