The Canadian Soccer Association supports 871,893 registered members, the largest sport participation total in Canada. More than 75,000 Canadians have taken a community coaching course in their province or territory with more than 500 having completed the “A” or “B” Licensed national course. There are also more than 17,500 registered referees with 36 officials on the National List operating at the professional level.
(thank you Polska)

We do have the registered members to finance everything we need to do to improve soccer in Canada, We just dont have the right people running the CSA.

Great point Ghouse. Starts at the top always.
Just look at our national game. Very organized from the top and all the way to the bottom at the grassroots level. You don't see minor hockey operate that way. Hmm. When you get a bunch of six year olds who don't mind getting up to play with sticks at seven you know you are on to something.
Here's an idea...we have those lovely indoor facilities with turf fields. How about getting young little lads hooked at an early age and at the crack of dawn? I can name you twenty to thirty kids who would get up to play at that time no problem. Finding qualified coaches is another matter...
Just a thought...

Coaching development has to lead player development. You can't build better players if your coaches don't know what they're doing. The community course is a good start, but it shouldn't be the end goal - we need much better educated coaches to develop players properly, especially at the critical ages of 12-14. I'm still seeing too many inexperienced and unqualified coaches trying to deal with players at this age and who end up wondering why the players leave the game in droves after.

Unqualified does not mean uncertified, just inept. There is a huge difference, and it's not just semantic.

The way we have the whole system structured, potmarked with flaws throughout, make it very challenging for clubs to hang on to good football people unless their kid is involved. And at this point, they are doing it for the love of the kid, not the love of the game.

The system has got nothing to do with it. Coaches are not there to win or to lose. Coaches are there to gide the players. Our players are not good enough to win. If the were they would win. You guys always blame coaches. It is not them. Once you put maple leaf on you must play to win. You must get fit on your own to be able to play at that level. It is system of development in youth programe to blame. They are all litle Empires and not our National or Provincial pride. Guys thrive on fults, spend to much time on baby sitting. Kids are un fit. slow and low skill level. Mitchell or other coaches have no time to develop at that level. Players got it wrong. Italy plays nine guys back and they win. We play three attacker system and go home every time. Our guys leave the area of their play and forget to come back. They only learn when the ball goes in to the net. Fitness pride and country must come first. Far tomany mama boys that worry about shaving the hair off of their legs more than about winning. Mitchel is a good guywas delt a shyt side and went down with it. Blame the guys at U17 and lover for promotting slow guys, that lack strength and game pace but most ogf of all half are not athleticly capable to be there. Sicknes is in slection.

Dude if you knew me you would be on my side. Been there done that. Do not get influanced by BS. We got long ways to go in many areas. In select programs we must have striker coaches and keeper coaches in every age group. One guy can not do it. Keeper coach is a must. Tactical coaches are also needed. We have semi trailers now we need wins. No goals the game is zero zero. First problem with our soccer.
