[FVSL] Cup Draw 2010

We drew the TWU Titans, so glad we get to play a team we already play twice this year.

Any word on the draw? Anyone know when it will be posted on the FVSL site? Guess it doesn't affect the broken legged one unless we make it deep into Cup (and it would have to be very deep if I hope to be playing).

Good luck to everyone. It sucks playing teams in your own group right off the get go, so hopefully there are some new faces. Although that obviously didnt happen for the Nomads. haha

I was there last night.

In attendance were the Guildford United guys (only goals and cleatsupp), Geu Inter(mb10 and teammates Curtis and Fox), Johnny K from the Dynamo, Frank from the Lords of Langley , Strength and Honour and myself from the Nomads, not sure there was any other team or club representation aside from the executive committee.

Too bad more peeps didn't make it out. I thought this would draw more people being in the Valley vs the Casino in New West, but I guess the ability to gamble etc drew more people last year

5 pretty poor calibre teams got byes in the first round of pres cup...Abby Arsenal (2C) SFC Peg Impact (2C) LUFC Wolves (2C) and Surrey Coyotes B and ND Royals from 3C

Pres Cup matches I managed to scribble down in my BB prior to getting inundated with texts once I messaged everyone our draw: GEU Inter vs BC United B, Mission Athletic vs BC United A (Candidate #1 for Pres Cup first round MOTW), Us Nomads vs TWU Titans Alumni (Candidate #2), GEU Knights vs Poco Pacific.

They should have left the Promoting up to the Promoter with the proven track record, eh!
How was the food compaired to last year?
We had a great thing going and now around 75 steps back.
Who paid for this??? Hope it was the Sponsor and not the league.
Waisting our money was not what was voted on at our AGM.
What was Voted on and approved was to do and build on the same thing we did last year.
Not change everything and ruin a good thing...People wont vote for another Xmas/Cup Draw party to be paid for by the league if no one attends. The location sucks and the food sucks.
Who was responsable for this blunder ?
You bet it will be a topic at the next AGM...

I had a Saturday night booked at Shanks .
I Fricken Saturday Night Man...At the best sports bar in BC !
Known for their huge spread of great hot food.
I would have had 300 plus for sure.

I was Very surprised to pull up to an empty parking lot at jimy macs. We were about 10 mins late too. Like jonnny said earlier, only 10 players out of what, 2500 registered FVSL players from u-21 to prem. Pretty disappointing considering what I heard about last years draw. Even tho the food was not the reason we went, it was pretty weak. We went with the expectation to meet some of the other players in the league. It was good to see the few guildford and nomads out.

70+ or so last year and 30 or 40 of them were on the ACBC 'pay roll' I'm told. Yes, you certainly proved your track record on how good you are at making events look bigger and fuller than they really are. Eh? Rich? Got any more exhibition games coming up you need to give, errr sell tickets to?

20 ACBC players last year and are they not in the FVSL and count as attended ???
where was your support and team mates???
And even if half the teams have a game a Saturday night....which they dont...still leaves 1000 plus members who could attend.
Plus Rain/snow out might happen this time of year....still better than any week night..
KNVP your questioning the way I get people out to a game shows how little you know about promotions...hence the word promo....5000 whatever to watch a friendly...who the frack cares how I got the people there...they were there and bottom line thats all that counts.
You couldnt get 20 people out with free food...LOL

Thats why soccer is 4th sport here...guys like you dont know shite about promoting and as long as your in charge soccer will never move forward...Guys like me fill seats....and sell out of beer $$$$ and sell out of Popcorn $$$$$ and fill the parking lot $$$$.
Who cares if you give away 2000 tix...you still make money.
Do the math..plenty of money.
My track record as you say is awsome...people were there..ask around.

Last year I attended because of the location for sure. I took the next day off work to attend. I didn't bother going to jimmy mac's, what's to do when you're done the draw?? whole lot of nothing.

Should have done the same as last year and if it was on a saturday it would have been alot more players out. I was looking forward to it until I heard it had changed.

I actually had Shanks booked and the bingo ball machine reserved...Then out of the blue I got the same email everyone got announcing the party/draw at the shite venue and the date..????
I called the league and was told Keven was supposed to notify me 3 weeks earlyer that they didnt need me ....???
I was never informed by our President that my services as a successful promoter were not needed.
That the New Promoter (who ever that is) thought the new venue would be way better.
And for some god awful reason they could attract more peeps than me....Well they thought rong.
Promotions is what I do...30,000 to Summerlove ,30,000 to WakeWest. 5000 to a meaningless soccer friendly....

People do care who is in charge of an event...They know when I throw an event that everything right down to the table displays are done right. Hot food and plenty of it. Lots of waitresses so you dont have to wait, cool venues with lots to do because rule number fricken 1 ...It must be FUN with our MTV attitude there must be lots to do and lots of eye candy...or people get bored.
IF SOMEONE IS GOING TO GIVE UP A NIGHT BEFORE XMAS THAN IT BETTER BE WORTH IT.
That means people will drive and put in the time to get there if its worth it...And the Promo Experts of Shanks and the Casino make it very worth the drive from anywhere...Its a Fricken night out...As all Xmas partys should be.
Not a waist of a night in a crappy little local pub in a back room...Is that what the promoter thinks the FVSL is...A crappy little ma and pa local pub???
Your Xmas party should reflect your Company or League....Am I right..?
I attract 5000 to a meaningless friendly where the FVSL (3) vs the CSL(2) on a grand scale.
Yet was passed over, to do what I do ,and what I had started.
Not sure why....no Executive ever called me?
