Canucks re-sign twin brothers Daniel and Henrik Sedin

August 10, 2005
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- The Canucks re-signed twins Daniel and Henrik Sedin to one-year contracts Wednesday.

``We are pleased to have Henrik and Daniel under contract for another year,'' GM Dave Nonis said in a statement. ``The twins are talented, quality people who have shown continuous improvement in all aspects of their game since joining the Canucks.

``We expect them to take on more responsibility this season and we are extremely excited to have this deal in place.''

During the 2003-04 season, Daniel Sedin had a career-high 54 points (18 goals, 36 assists) in 82 games to finish fourth in scoring on the Canucks. He has played in 315 NHL games with Vancouver, getting 61 goals and 90 assists.

Henrik Sedin had a career-high 42 points (11 goals, 31 assists) in 76 games during 2003-04 to rank sixth in Canucks scoring. He has played in 318 games with Vancouver, scoring 44 goals and 102 assists.

The forwards are 24. They spent the lockout season playing for Modo in their native Sweden.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin were drafted by Vancouver second and third overall in 1999.

Re: Canucks re-sign Sedin brothers (AP)

That was quick. I thought they we're going to arbratration(sp)? A 1 year deal is a bit odd when the Nucks seem to be looking to a a 3 year plan.

I think I heard only Ohlund is going to arbitration now, everyone else either accepted their qualifying offer (Cloutier for sure) or just elected NOT to file.

Good day for Nonis and the Canucks.

The new Article Bot pummels! Its obviously been upgraded. Its like the T-1000 Terminator compared to the Energizer bunny. Both are machines and are fcuking annoying as hell but at least the T-1000's not banging a fcuking drum all day long while you're sitting hungover in front of a computer.
