Victoria isn't on the preferred list I don't think. Nanaimo is though.

As is Kelowna who keeping with the league theme could be tied to UBCO.

Victoria already have Highlanders

It's odd that Burnaby is on the list as there is already a team at Swangard?

OK, best I just leave that foot permanently in my mouth....are the Highlanders affiliated w/ UVIC? If not, then my original posts still stands. :D

Highlanders are not officially affiliated with UVic. They actually have the UNBC coaches (who both have strong histories coaching in Victoria) coming in to run the L1BC teams....

Bruce Wilson retired from UVic at the end of the season. I'm not sure a replacement has been named?

There are 7 teams and I haven't looked at the schedule but I am assuming they play each other at least once home and away game. So that is 6 home games where you can make money at the gate (if they charge), merchandise and food and drinks. They need to be making a minimum of 10k per home game just to break even. Of course there other ways to get the money through sponsorships and fund raisers and etc but that seems like a tough ask to make 10k per game.

$60k minimum budget.

Season lasts 9 weeks.
5 Lower mainland teams should be able to stay well under $60K. The 60 figure is what you need to show you have available, does not mean you have to spend it. But, it will be expensive due to travel costs to prince george, nanaimo and kelowna, and gate receipts will be almost non-existent.

And the players will be getting paid, plus the refs, plus the field and facility rentals, plus advertising costs. Good luck.
What is it that BC Soccer is doing to help promote this league to the public???
If this succeeds it will be because of the individual teams' efforts.

I understand no players will be paid for the first year or two. If they are that would negate any NCAA players from playing in the league also.
