Apparently there is going to be major changes to the scouting department after the draft. Something tells me discussions around the draft table maybe interesting,

Hearing that Tanev is off the table because of losing Tryamkin and Sbisa is puzzling to me - who cares if we have inexperience at the backend for another year or 2

I mean FFS we still have Edler.

I think it has more to do with the amount of D that are on the trade block so the return right now is not great. They will probably get more by holding on to him and trading him later.

If the rumour of this being Devils choice - do the Canucks make a move or is the 5th pick too much of fall and chance Makar isn't still there at #5?

Im not sure but if that does materialize that 3rd pick from Dallas to grab either Patrick or Hershy would then have to come into play as one of teh 2 would be available.

Would you trade Tanev , 5th overall and 33rd over all for Number 3 and maybe the rights to Valeri Nichushkin? iF they dont go for that swap Nichushkin for Jamie Oleksiak?

I would trade Tanev for the 3rd pick and one of their bad goalie contract. Forget Miller.

My feelings on Makar is if we have a chance to grab him and we pass he will be the best player in the draft but if we take him he will be a bust.

Thats our luck ya. We have never Had a stud number 1 Dman. Except for Jyrki Lumme

Nucks have never had a #1 D man...although not many teams have

Luc Bourdon could have been.

Anyone else less than impressed with Canucks choice? Won't see him for a couple years. Sounds like he was drafted earlier than expected. Another hopeful 2nd line centre

That is my concern, it's easy to say we need to put 30pounds on someone but look at Mason Raymond, they couldn't bulk him up. If you have narrow shoulders and small joints you are limited. Already says he's added 10 pounds. So he was 6"2 155 a year ago. I feel we are looking at a 6"2 180-185 as a target. Still very slight. He's young and these guys know a hell of a lot more then me but this feels like a big risk.

Yeah I'd rather they just draft size than build size. Sometimes adding pounds changes their game for the worse. Body and skating can't always adjust to the extra 15-20 pounds.

For that body type, adding the weight will only increase his power and speed. I've seen kids of that body type get up and past 200 lbs, but the thing is they still look like they are 185. Lean muscle stretched along a 6'2" frame weighs more than it looks. I'm definitely OK w/ this move. Kid seems to have an excellent hockey mindset, and if the 'Nucks can get Jake Virtannen straightened out (less hopeful there, but right now it seems Green has broken him down, and in the process of building him back up), you may be looking at a very dominant line in 3-4 years.
