As a side note regarding limiting the squad size; players are looking for good training as well as game time.
If you can't make the team in a decent Div2 side and drop down to 3rd, you might be in a worse position when the 3rd Div team doesn't train properly/regularly. I think this makes sense...

I heard that there was a change in the Over 35s. Each team will only be allowed 2 underage players and to be eligible for the 2014/15 season, they must be born in '80, '81 or '82.

Looks like the league is slowly eliminating the underage players. I would guess that for the 2015/16 season the underage players will have to be born in '81 or '82.

Can anyone confirm and/or explain?

Regarding the the years born, they did say that they were intentionally restricting the ages. They are definitely working towards eliminating under age players in O-40s, but I'm not sure of the exact plan in O-35.

Apparently there was a Masters meeting a year or two ago where this was all decided. If you need further clarification I'd suggest contacting the Masters Coordinator listed on the VMSL Board of Directors.

"Tightened restriction" was for the over 40s, not the over 35s. There is no plan to change the eligibility for over 35s; just the silly requirement to reword the section of the constitution that deals with it every year because for some reason "between the ages of 31-34" isn't clear enough.
