I disagree, I don't see any point where he's looked great. Who cares what team he's on? Kaberle has been an average D man forever, and he'll continue to be that on the Bruins. For some reason he's been labelled as this great D-man that every team needs and I don't know why. He had a great year about 5 years ago, but has been average as of late (he averages about 40 points a season last 3 years). He is having a much better year this year, which I guess is to be expected being the only offensive D-man the Leafs have. But look at Grabner on Long Island, same situation, would you give up a first, second and prospect for him? I highly doubt it.

We pick up Chris Higgins for a 3rd and Evan Oberg, and Maxim Laperierre for a 3rd and Joel Perrault. I like it. Higgins will hopefully give Raymond a push to pick it up, or he can fill the spot assuming he can play like a couple of years ago. Laperierre brings the grit factor up and should shore up the 4th line. Glad we did it without losing a roster player as well. It appears well done Mr. Gillis.

I like it as well. Laperierre is a real piece of work and if he can stay disciplined and focused he can be the type of handful that Burrish and company were on the hawks 4th line. Chris Higgins is like Samuelson in that he has streaks in which you think this guy could be a real key to the teams success. However he can also be completely invisible and seems to lose his confidence in his own ability. Opportunities like this can give players that fresh start so hopefully they can be the final pieces to our Stanley cup drive. Feel a bit for Hodgson, it is the right move but would have been nice for the young kid to be apart of what could potentially be a special year.

I would have assumed Gillis would have had some sort of discussions with former teammates/coaches/player himself about his discipline issues, because he can be very, very stupid sometimes. I think having a chance to win a cup and be wanted by a team of the Canucks calibre will be motivation to stay focused and disciplined. Agree 100% on Higgins and Hodgson.

I think coach v was lapierre's coach in junior wasn't he?
He would know first hand what he and gillis were getting in to.
