JOMO is correct. I spoke to Bby Parks & Rec this AM. Bby Lake is open. Takes awhile to get through the bureaucracy to change the website and the phone line (this from Parks & Rec).
Just called the New West Line 604-527-4634

Updated December 8th at noon. Some fields are user discretion but they are marginal. Any amount of rain is likely to make them not suitable for play. Please use significant discretion so the field is available for the rest of the year. For allweather fields, they are all user discretion - some are still under snow and others have melted. For Artificial turfs. The Point Grey turf is open and the Hamber field has a significant amount of snow/ice on one quarter of the field and will be user discretion but is likely not suitable for games.
Vancouver Field status website is down "due to a power outage."
From the phone line: "all grass fields are under standing water and are closed as of today." This will be re-evaluated as of 2:00 pm tomorrow and the website will also hopefully be updated at that time."
Updated Friday January 5, 2007 Due to rain, freezing and snow the grass fields are closed this weekend. Artifiicial turfs and all weather fields are user discretion. Do not play on them if they are frozen or have snow cover. Thank you!
Looks like NFL playoff football this weekend for us!!
Sapperton Park is closed, and the interesting thing is even though our game against Sapp was put up a few days ago on the excellent site, according to the lady in the New West Parks office that I spoke to this afternoon, it and all other NW fields have all been closed all along til the 15th of January. So the game should never have been scheduled in the first place, according to her (Joan...excellent), the Parks scheduler. She also said she told a Sapp representative named "ZZSOLT" that several days ago...but it was scheduled anyway.
Interesting....I know that Burnaby got quite a dump of snow, but you would think that common sense would put the fields user discretion Saturday and Sunday, as the snow could melt overnight.
We Temple have Burnaby Lake as a home field, and the league usually doesn't update the website for that field till later in the day.
Strange. Our 4pm Div 2 game at Point Grey gets cancelled, but the 6pm Premier game is still on. Pretty irritating, since Point Grey is almost clear of snow already, and a game there tonight is on, as well.
