[FVSL Masters Premier Division] Predictions, Results, & Banter 2016/2017

Went out with a couple mates to watch the Masters Cup semifinal between ND and SFC and holy was I ever shocked. How does Kyle Williams still get games to ref?

He abandoned the game at 2-2 after giving 2 red cards to SFC. According to him, he didn't like how the fans were yelling. I talked to both teams aftewards and players were actually appalled at what was happening. That guy should never be allowed to ref again.

I'm not even trying to banter or troll, I'm a Caucasian guy with a Caucasian background but I actually think he might be racist. It was that atrocious.

So what happens? Do they replay?

I doubt he's racists. That's a pretty bad accusation to make, so you'd better be sure when you do.

I've never gotten the impression he's racist. Was he the best ref? No...he wasn't great at keeping his composure in challenging environments. Was this at Newton? Possible he got intimidated by the pro SFC crowd and maybe flustered?

Reason I said racist is because both teams even felt he was. Also, this isnt the first time he's done this to an ethnic team. Where there's smoke there's fire

That is a pretty bold accusation.

Were there instances during the game that made it seem so? Or was it just some angry post game comments?

I'll give you some examples of what he did last night:

SFC player gets injured, looks like a bad knee injury and game stops. Player gets helped off the field and SFC coach and sub asks linesman if they can make sub while this is happening and linesman says yes go ahead. SFC sub walks onto field and ref comes over and gives him a yellow for entering the field without asking the ref and linesman is as baffled as everyone else. Due to the yellow, he gives an indirect free kick inside SFC 18 yrd box and the SFC center back questions the ref and boom another yellow card and now a PK. ND felt so bad themselves about what was happening, they just rolled the ball back to the GK.

SFC and ND player go up for a header, SFC player wins the header. No malice no nothing. SFC player gets his second yellow. Ref stated he did not make a play for the ball even though he won the header.

SFC player slides from about 5-7 yards away to attempt to block a clearance. No tackle, didn't touch the ND player, nothing. Gets 2nd yellow. The funny thing about this one is an ND player did the exact same thing earlier, nearly identical play and ref stated he didn't touch the player so it's not a foul.

SFC player about to score into open net, ND player takes him down, no attempt at ball just grabbed and pulled him down. Clear as day red card. Linesman raises flag for penalty, they have a discussion, ref gives yellow. Linesman walks over to SFC coach and says ref didn't even want to give PK. No red card given.

Where I was standing, there was quite a few other people who had strolled over from other games ending and the one thing everyone said was "he must hate brown people." It was actually that bad.

Even the linesmen were appalled at what was happening. At one point, one linesmen even started laughing at the calls. Regardless of people outside the field yelling or anything, as long as there are no threatening remarks made or anything along those lines, a ref needs to man up. To be fair, SFC was down 2-0 and came back to tie it with 5 mins left. Isn't a great atmosphere at a local amateur game appreciated?

He should never ever get to ref again.

Those do sound like odd situations.

I did notice there were 4 reds and 4 yellows handed out that game. All to SFC?

Ok, that also sounds like more than a few games at Langley vs. Aldergrove, with equally bad officiating from the same ref. None of that sounds racist to me, it does sound like very poor game management by an official.

You may make a case for him not being granted high level matches anymore, especially open men or Masters. Seen and heard too many incidences like this where he allows it to get out of control by trying to stamp his authority in situations that don't call for it. But, using poor judgement as an official does not qualify him as racist.

Again, you need to be very careful about using a man's name here and accusing him of being racist. Not cool.

Never said he's racist, saying he might be is completely different.

All of them to SFC @Yoda except for the PK which should have been a red he gave a yellow and that only because the linesman forced him to give at least a card

I wasn't there and so glad I wasn't now that I hear this crazyness.
Sometimes you have to record matches. Camera never lies.

So an OT with SIkh temple down 2 players is in order?
All before this weekends cup finals?

You "might" as well have. There's no difference.

If you've brought it up here, you obviously think there's truth in it.

Having said that, there is no place for that type of accusation here on TTP.

Also, I should mention, he went over to the SFC bench before gametime and removed their 2 supporters yet didn't say a word to ND who had numerous lol I talked to both coaches last night and yes that actually happened so he was looking for trouble right from the start

Yah I've never felt that either, I'm very Caucasian and he hated me equally but had a little extra for Lion. Reffing is hard and the older I get the less I like to criticize. There is a huge but....however this isn't the place for it.

You can have any opinion you want, but let me put it this way....I can call TM all the names I want on here, and what it amounts to is name calling. Sure he can escalate it to BCSA, but it's sticks and stones stuff. If I were to call him racist (and let me be clear, this is an example....I think TM is a lot of thing but never seen any R qualities in him. Dickhead, sure...), that's some serious slander that falls way outside the walls of TTP.

I've seen Kyle have such bad games against us in Langley that unfortunately, what you describe is equal levels of baffling and normal for him.

State what you want, but if you have no compelling evidence except examples of really bad officiating, well....

Shame it was abandoned, now whatever the result will be is going to be tainted.

Referee had to be escorted off the field to his car by a whistler blower.
Sounds like it got a little too crazy.

Good luck to the league on this case. Going to be a tough one to rule on for sure.

Masters soccer has so many hot heads and it seems to get worse the older they get. Guys foaming at the mouth, trying to prove something that they didn't get to in their 20's or as a kid or something.

Refs should be all about protecting the players and of course themselves. Full time. Number one priority.
