Norvan vs. Celtic PPD (again). FFS, we knew this wasn't going to be played on Thursday morning just by looking at the weather forecast. However, the geniuses who operate the parks on the North Shore are apparently smarter than Environment Canada, so despite everything on grass yesterday over there being cancelled, and the NV Parks website claiming that "Our field status update phone number is 604-983-6444 ext: 503 can be checked for weekend play after 4pm Saturday for Sundays play" [sic] they left McCartney Creek "open" so we still had to get our passports in order and drive over there just to be told by the ref that the field was still frozen and therefore unplayable. Whatever...

Strathcona 2:0 Celtic
Both goals came in the first half, first after just five minutes.
Number of chances we had in second half was unbelievable.
Celtic with couple of long range shots and one great chance at the end.
Comments after the game: much better Celtic side from what we saw in the 1st game and possibly second best keeper in our division (had to give #1 to our guy)
Caspian next, whenever that is.

United: thanks for a good game. Tough to lose our stopper the way we did, but that's the game. Murt looks to have possibly done his achilles; we all hope not. Fairly accurate report. We had a wide open net in the first half that went begging to be filled, but our strikers didn't finish their breakfast. 2nd half chances all went begging at both ends. The midfield opened up way too much for this old coach's liking, as both teams spread out trying to attack.

Steady was pissed at himself after your 1st goal; he felt that he should have had it. The 2nd he didn't really have a chance at; it was a very good header that should have been cut out by one of our midfielders before your guy had a chance at it, but c'est la guerre. Thanks for the compliment to Steady; just wish we could convince him that he's as good as he is - he actually doesn't like playing the position.

Best of luck next round!

Celtic 1 Average Joes 1 at Adanac Beach. Not sure, but I think one of their guys may have drowned in the quicksand corner (NW part of the field). Average Joes looked extremely average today, and went through a lot of subs in the first half (3, possibly 4). Both goals scored in the 1st half, and neither side able to break the deadlock. Really not sure how these guys are as far up the table as they are; their finish was even worse than ours, and we had one go off the post with the keeper beaten cleanly. I guess it could possibly be blamed on lack of bodies, but hey, we only had 12 available (plus one old fart who had to play the full game) as well.

Rematch with these guys next week, and PCOV sometime thereafter.

Thanks Trece for officially clinching 2nd for us.
Now, hopefully we can play the play-in game next weekend and not wait until the end of march

My first game back in the new year on Sunday. We've struggled for numbers the last few weeks due to vacations from the squad.
1-1 against Friends in the pouring rain on Sunday. Friends started a man down and had a player show up late. Pretty slow, sloppy display from both teams, as each only had one sub by the end of it. We'd both probably claim we should have won. Both teams missed some glorious chances to put away those crucial extra goals. Now our two replays against PCOV remaining and we get out of the season.

Looking forward to a shot at a win in the Cup!
2-0 down to PCOV. 0-0 until about 8 minutes left. Both teams pushed at the end for a winner which led to gaps in midfield and less support for the backlines. Unfortunately for us, their lone threat was no. 9 up front who had speed to burn and our attackers were slow. When we were putting our CBs in a sprint against no. 9 it was only a matter of time until they got some quality chances. We were too crowded in the final 3rd and lacking any real threat.
One more rematch against them to end the league and then hopefully at least one positive result in the cup to end the year. Good luck fellas in your cup ties next weekend!

Norvan 3 Celtic 1. Crap result on a crap field from a crap turnout. Only 10 players available, so "augmented" the lineup with a +40 and a +50. Too many missing from the middle and backline, so they were allowed to have many more opportunities than they deserved. Our goal was a thing of mystery to their keeper and backline, as one of their backs collided with their keeper who was coming out to clear a ball (silently). Ball fell nicely for Aiden who slotted it home.

On to Cup games...

Saw them twice, very well organized and strong when not missing a bunch of players.
I am surprised Baback or Danny Ager are silent, they should have some info. ;)
Do you guys exchange scarves after your games?

Class above us, with their speed, skill, fitness, diving.
Our passing game wasn't there, werent getting rid of the ball quick enough and having only one sub didn't help.
We actually scored first in the opening minutes but by the end of half it was already 4:1.
Caspian next

Bosna is pretty much done if anyone cares or wants to know what's happening with them lately

Few players had a fallout with the coach and about 4-5 starters left the team including the goalie!

imploding is fun...

Looking at a best turnout today of 11 bodies out of a roster of 21. 1 suspended, 6 away on vacation (are you fcukin' kidding me?), 1 injured, and 2 who have just fcuked off without any explanation. The goal is to try to keep this from getting to double digits.:mad::mad:
