The Vancouver Canucks re-signed winger Jarkko Ruutu on Thursday. In three seasons with the Canucks, the Finn had 13 goals and 21 assists in 185 games. Ruutu spent the 2004-05 season with HIFK Helsinki of the Finnish league, where he had 10 goals and 18 assists.
``We are very excited to once again have Jarkko Ruutu in our lineup,'' Canucks general manager Dave Nonis said in a statement.
``His competitive nature is infectious and we look forward to another strong season from him.''
The Canucks are still negotiating with restricted free agent Matt Cooke, who wants a raise from his $627,000 qualifying offer.
The feisty forward was promoted to the top line in 2004 when Todd Bertuzzi was suspended and finished with 11 goals and 12 assists.
