ND beat Syracuse and are 1 win away from a BCS game!! That's if the computer rankings come out that way. It was a scary first quarter for the irish, but they came back and dominated like they should have from the start. They never did cover the 35 point spread. But a win is a win. Next up Road Trip to Stanford.

AP Rankings: ND stays at #6. Miami dropped out of the top 5, with there loss to georgia tech. Virginia tech with the blowout victory move back into the top 5 and are ahead of ND.

USC alomost got upset by Fresno State. What a game!! Still on top though.

ND with a big last minute win. What a game. 15 seconds in and they were up 7:0.... standford took the lead with 1:45 left 31:30. How calm was brady quinn in that last drive to win the game. What a QB.... Final ND 37 : Standford 31. ND is # 7 in the AP. With the victory they should get an invite to teh fiesta bowl!! 14.5$ bowl game!!!

Sunday is Bowl Selection day:

Article from yahoo.com that i found on Weiss talking about the past season and how he see's his team in a BCS game, yet others don't....

Weis confident Irish will get a BCS bid
Weis confident Irish will get a BCS bid

By TOM COYNE, AP Sports Writer
December 1, 2005
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Charlie Weis is not bothered by talk that Notre Dame is unworthy of a Bowl Championship Series berth.

Weis is confident the No. 7 Fighting Irish (9-2) will get a BCS invitation on Sunday, no matter what happens on Saturday.

"I don't want to be disrespectful to the other teams, but I think we are going to be a very good representative to one of the BCS games," he said Thursday. "Whether it's a smart pick, I think we'll be a good pick."

If No. 1 USC and second-ranked Texas both win on Saturday, Notre Dame is expected to receive the first at-large invitation from the Fiesta Bowl. That would be ahead of No. 4 Penn State (10-1) and its inspiring turnaround season under coach Joe Paterno, ahead of No. 6 Ohio State, with losses to Texas and Penn State and ahead of No. 8 Oregon (10-1), which only lost to USC.

Some have questioned whether a two-loss Irish team is worthy, especially because the only teams with winning records the Irish beat were No. 20 Michigan (7-4), Navy (6-4) and BYU (6-5). According to the NCAA, the Irish had the 63rd toughest schedule this year, with opponents having a 50.9 percent winning percentage.

By comparison, Ohio State had the fourth toughest schedule (62.9 percent), Penn State was 13th (59.2) and Oregon was 49th (53.7).

Weis said the critics need to look at the whole picture. He said they're looking at team's records at the end of the year, rather than when the Irish played them. Pittsburgh was ranked No. 23 when the teams met, Michigan No. 3, Purdue was No. 22 and Michigan State was No. 17 immediately after beating the Irish.

"Michigan State deserved to beat us. We did not play well that day. We did not coach well that day," he said. "But at the time Michigan State was one of the best teams in the country. So they end up 5-6 and everyone says, 'Well, they lost to a 5-6 Michigan State team.' Well that Michigan State team we played at that time was not a 5-6 team."

Weis didn't mention that Pittsburgh (5-6), Michigan State, Purdue (5-6), Tennessee (5-6) and Stanford (5-6) would have had winning records and been bowl eligible if they had beaten the Irish.

Aside from a national following, the Irish do have some compelling story lines that make them attractive to bowl organizers.

In his first season, Weis has breathed new life into a Notre Dame program that hasn't finished a season ranked in the top 10 since being ranked No. 2 at the end of the 1993 season. The Irish have won their last five games and are averaging 38 points, which would break the school record of 37.6 points set in 1968.

Brady Quinn, expected to be a Heisman Trophy finalist, owns nearly every major passing record at Notre Dame, both single season and career. Despite that, Weis said he believes USC tailback Reggie Bush would probably be his pick for the Heisman.

"I said all along it would be tough for me to pick against that No. 5 for USC," Weis said. "But I've seen all three of these quarterbacks play. I think Matt Leinart's real good, I think Vince Young is real good, but I wouldn't trade my guy for either one of them."

Weis said regardless of which bowl game the Irish attend, the important thing is to finish the season with a win. The Irish have lost seven straight bowl games -- losing by an average of 37-18 -- since beating Texas A&M to end the 1993 season.

"People aren't going to remember the Stanford game after the bowl game. They're going to remember the bowl game," he said. "So you're either going to be 9-3 having lost the bowl game or 10-2 having won the bowl game. So it's one that's going to leave a good taste or a bad taste. I'm hoping for the former."

Thoughts??

8 in a row..... ND loses their 8th straight bowl game with a tough loss to OSU. Defence does win championships, but an offence that scores 4 TD's that are greater than 50yds helps as well too. ND started out strong scoring on the opening drive.... but then didn't put any points on the board till midway thru the 3rd. OSU had 2 big TD's from ginn jr one receiveng adn one rushing.... ND did get 2 fumble recoveries and blocked 2 field goals, but that wasnt' enough. Missed tackles, and OSU able to stop samardzija, fasano and stovall from big catches gave OSU the big win!! Not a way i would like to see ND go out on, but an 10 and 3 season with first year coach weiss and everybody returning on offence except for 5th year fasano.... Can't wait for September to come.... Hope they recruited some defensive players!!
