If the money does not come from sponsors my guess is that it will be the parents of the house/bronze/silver/gold/metro players that pay extra to allow the top flight to "play for free". That just does not sound right to me somehow.

Do you really think that is a solution? All Gold team's should pick their squads in the spring, play 40% of their season and then have any number of "HPL elite" players come in and take their roster spots. Good luck with that.
