Valour FC midfielder Daryl Fordyce and coach Phil Dos Santos spoke to the media in a final media conference for the 2021 Canadian Premier League season. The Winnipeg side failed to make the playoffs following a 3-3 draw with FC Edmonton last weekend. Dos Santos, while oitlining he doesn't want a "rebuild" off-season, revealed the past few days have been the busiest of his Valour reign, which started in September when he took over for three-year coach Rob Gale. "The team that was put in place here was a good group of players," Dos Santos said. "I think the reaction from our part was a little late... A resilient group, a group that wanted to fight toward the end, and a group that has quality." Midfilder Fordyce, meanwhile, lamented a mid-season run of results that saw his Valour side go from top of the table out of The Kickoff, the CPL's opening season bubble stanza, to falling short. "We couldn't find our feet," Fordyce said of three road losses in a row following the Kickoff. "It was just the consistency... I guess we lost a bit of belief. On our day, though, we were a very dangerous team." Dos Santos' group closed the campagin with a 10-5-13 regular season record.
