Atlético Ottawa toppled Cavalry FC 2-0 Sunday night, surprisingly taking all three points from one of the CPL’s early leaders in the 2021 season. While Cavalry FC had over 60 per cent of possession and a handful of early looks on goal, a pair of late second-half goals from Ottawa was the difference. An over-the-top ball from Milo Kapor landed to Zach Verhoven, who lifted the ball past Karifa Yao and onto the foot of Malcolm Shaw who slotted it home for an against-the-run-of-play go-ahead marker. The Cavs pushed for an equalizer but ended up coming short. It looked like Anthony Novak had found the net but it was called back for offside.
