Canadian soccer history was made over the weekend, as PLSQ side A.S. Blainville were the inaugural winners of the League1 Canada Women's Inter-Provincial Championship. Blainville defeated tournament hosts A.S. Laval in an all-PLSQ final 3-0. Blainville captain Megane Sauve scored the opening goal, while Audrey Ann Cardinal and Lorie Thibault also found the back of the net during a dominant final performance. They reached the final by defeating Varsity FC of League1 BC 2-0 in the semi-finals. The tournament, played at Complexe sportif du Collège de Bois-de-Boulogne, also featured League1 Ontario side Alliance United. Alliance took home the tournament's bronze medal. After losing the semi-finals to Laval on seven rounds of penalties, they would again go to penalties against Varsity in the third-place match. This time, they would come out on top, winning the shootout 4-1. The annual competition will return next year, adding a men's competition as well likely to feature the winners of the respective league's male divisions.
