Pacific FC announced on Monday the signing of teenage left-back Christian Greco-Taylor to a two-year contract, with a club option for 2026. The 19-year-old native of Calgary, Alta. joins the Tridents out of the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy, which he joined in 2019. Greco-Taylor made 21 appearances for the club’s MLS Next Pro side in 2023, contributing two assists. Prior to his time with the Whitecaps, Greco-Taylor represented Calgary Foothills FC in his hometown from 2016.

Signing with Pacific marks the continuation of what has already been an exciting year for Greco-Taylor on the pitch. He earned his first call up to Canada Soccer’s men’s Under-20 national team in February, making one start and twice coming off the bench for his country at the 2024 Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship Qualifiers last month. Canada finished the competition with a perfect three wins from three matches and booked its ticket to this summer’s Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship in Guanajuato, Mexico.

“Christian is a young, left-footed left back with very high potential,” said Jamar Dixon, Manager of Football and Player Development, Pacific FC. “He’s proven he is one of the top young Canadian players through his recent games with the Men’s U-20 Canadian National Team. We are excited to have Christian join Pacific FC and continue our commitment to playing and developing young Canadian players.” Greco-Taylor and the Tridents will kick off their 2024 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season on Saturday, April 13, when they host coastal rival Halifax Wanderers FC at Starlight Stadium in Langford, B.C. Kickoff of the club’s 2023 CPL home opener is set for 4 p.m. PT.
