Concacaf confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that it will be implementing a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in multiple competitions in 2022, including the remaining men's FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in the Octagonal stage. Other competitions slated to use VAR are the upcoming men's and women's U-20 Championship, the senior Women's Championship, and the Concacaf Champions League -- the latter of which began using VAR in the 2021 tournament. The Canadian men's national team will resume its World Cup Qualifying journey later this month, with two away matches (Jan. 27 in Honduras, and Feb. 2 in El Salvador) and a clash with the United States in Hamilton, Ontario on Jan. 30. Meanwhile, Canadian Premier League side Forge FC will be participating in the 2022 Concacaf Champions League as a result of their performances in the 2021 Concacaf League tournament; their journey will begin on Feb. 16 when they host Mexican side Cruz Azul in the first match of a two-legged round of 16 tie.
