Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League announced on Tuesday that the club will be hosting a preseason friendly against Calgary Foothills FC as part of its 2024 Kickoff Celebration presented by Rümi. The friendly will take place on Saturday, April 6th at 3:00 p.m. MT on Hellard Field at Shouldice Athletic Park and will be open to the public. Tickets for the event are only $5 with 100% of proceeds going directly to Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta. Following the match, there will be a meet and greet, giving fans the opportunity to meet some of the first-team players. Fans will also have the chance to enter several giveaways, including a VIP matchday experience on ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows. Cavalry FC's U21 squad will take part in a friendly immediately following the meet and greet with the first team, against fellow Calgary side, 1UP Soccer. This match will kick off at 5:30 p.m. MT and fans are welcome to show their support. This celebration marks the final friendly of the preseason and kicks off the 2024 CPL Regular Season, as Cavalry FC prepares to travel to face Forge FC in the first match of the season on April 13. Cavalry FC will return to ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows on Tuesday, April 23 for the preliminary round of the TELUS Canadian Championship against Vancouver FC. The winner of this matchup will advance to a thrilling quarterfinal against MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The club will host its CPL Regular Season Home Opener on April 28 as Cavalry FC faces Pacific FC on ATCO Field.
