Bandcamp: I think that is a no-brainer, actually. I've said it before, too, because I think Victoria is one of the best cities in BC for supporting amature and semi-pro sports. Good call!
Exhibition was garbage for the two years prior to the turf. The city wasn't going to caretake it anylonger and became an embarrassment. "Turfing" it was the best decision made here in years. A 3rd turf pitch was built, and sounds like 2-3 more coming.
That's far away. Too bad it's not more of a central area. To get people from the valley out to UBC land will be tough.
Too bad no other cities stepped up.
It then confirms all those rumours that Whitecaps were asking too much from all those municipalities they were negotiating with (first of all, the training centre and then a location for USL team).
Parking, so long an issue for events on campus, is down to $1.50 per hour on weekends at Thunderbird Parkade.
No upgrades to T-Bird Stadium are in those plans, although Lenarduzzi said the football lines will be removed for WFC2 games.
“We’ll be ecstatic if we can put 3,500 (fans) in there,” he said. “We look forward to making that a vibrant place.” If they do, consistently, then maybe this thing has a long life at UBC. The lease is still being worked out.
The parking issue is huge…and finally there is cheap parking on the weekends. I'm out there most days between my soccer and my son't and it is much better than it used to be. There's even some free 2 hour parking near the new U Hill turf.
