Club I Champ is right - naysayers are the opposition and applauders are insiders - the former recalls the first 7 games and the latter sees the progression. I guess the naysayers will just have to wait to see/play RFC again and the insiders will have to try to avoid spraining their shoulders slapping their own backs. (yours truly included).

To be fair though, progress is being made - and it is the festive season, is it not?

Kaapi you got the right name. You can not push the kids. They must want it. Fom a house league and Development league. There is no need of Bronze two three and red one and two. It is just a joke. Silver gold and select in Development league. Kids will come up and do better.
You are right about coaches. But in Europe coaches get paid here dads do it for free. Only soccer schools charge. And their players are no better than the players from dads. Just bit more fit.
I personaly think that youth teams have tomany players per team. Kids sub every three minutes. There is no way to develop like that. They only work on their cardio energy.
Second gear and third gear are missing. When they come out of U18 it is way to late. You can maybe improve three four per team and tha's if they realy want it.

It's Richmond FC. And yes, I'm in favour. Ffs we beat sapperton. Barely. And they're awful. And Delta without their best player in -5C at 9pm in Tuesday night when they didn't seem interested in playing. Oh, and norvan. Woo freakin hoo. Sure we tied metro ford but they rested most of their starters including their netminder.

Psssssst... We are in 9th spot.

Pass the rum and eggnog.

Re: Reality Check!

Grimm, is your young French room mate comparing local amateur soccer to professional soccer in France I wonder?

No. My home stay student was comparing it to amateur soccer in his home town of Figueurolles.

I have an idea for the socialist - a coaching tax. We can call it the CST.
Then we can pay professionals to coach our kids. Another problem, without naming names but many soccer associations are dominated by old guys from one soccer culture that to this day loves long balls, thump it and chase BS. "Good kick Johnny" as the kid kicks it aimlessly to the opposition. Now I've stirred it up a bit! LOL. This is tahethepiss afterall.
Like the Premiership, we need some coaches and directors from countries that win and dominate world soccer. Italians, Germans, Brazilians. That would certainly exclude me. Anyone for a game of rugby?

Kaapie you are funny. If the coaches came here they would have a beer or two and roch. Ho the hell would they coach?
Boys just want fun. Most guys only care when it comes to playoffs. Rest as long as they stay up is OK.
The only way is charge each team three four hundred more and have money won for first second third and forth team in the premier league. That would send all the teams hunting. It would be much better soccer.
And second of all we need few bigger and tougher refs and AR,s.
Most of them do not even pull the cards any more. Just take the cam corder and film the game and than watch it at home and you will see how many fauls are not called.
It will get better with BC Premier league. As long as they let Kelowna and Kemloops in.
Both Cities deseve a spot in the league. Both places have turf fields heated. Or switch the league to summer and go head to head with PCSL.

Grimm, your French student is full of s#it..nothing new there, he is french afterall...

I have been to Europe and watched number of 'amateur soccer'...There are plenty of players in Canada, playing here in VMSL as well, who with proper 'full time' training would be good enough to play competitive at any lower leagues in Europe..

VMSL has some very good players....there are many quick players, good dribblers, players with excellent shot, and many other players who have good overall skills. The only difference is that the players here are part time players, thus the players in Europe have usually played with eachother much longer, and in a much better system put in place. Thus the games might 'look' better, but it does not mean that they are better players.

Robino, to be fair, one may need to ask Grimm's French exchange student about these assertions personally:

Did you guys see Azzi's week 14 report. He reports that it was Chis Carvaeiro that made run through few guys and got a penalty shot out of it. His eyes must be going or the bold headed vido man was to cold. It was Michael Brkich that made that run and got the PK out of it. Rogics reporting is a good as his soccer game slow and slower. At least his bullshit is on a posative move. Game on friday should be on by the looks. Aren't Canucks playing on friday night? It just might be to cold to play for better players. Sapperton needs the 3 popints to stay alive. Go Croatia go. Sapperton needs a good Christmas.

Is the reason that you feel the need to mention that, is because Michael Brkich is your son.....

Sir M, sure....

It pisses me off that there are people out there still diminishing our talent..Our U18's go to Europe and are always competitive..VMSL has number of former professional players, players who played overseas in lower divisions, and players which could have played in Europe but chose not to, for their own personal reasons...To say that these players are no good is a joke...Anyone who plays in Premier knows that every team has these kind of players that I just mentioned.

You're making a major assumption here Robino when the facts show otherwise.

I agree there are plenty of talented individuals in our league but it's the less tangible stuff, i.e. decision making, positional play, awareness, where the important differences lie (IMHO).

Who knows, my student could be "full of sh*t" as you say, but until Canada stops losing to world powers like Guadeloupe and Macedonia, I'm inclined to believe there's at least some truth in what he's saying:eek:.

Anyways, I'm beginning to sound like a Mr. Base/JBN hybrid so if you like, we can discuss this further in the appropriate thread.

Berg, I know Stella is a Belgian beer. The song is sung by a french woman named Brigette Bardot, who was a world class looker in the sixties, and the girl in the commercial kind of looks like she did. The song is in French, and in it the female singer is dismissing her man, presumably for infidelity. She signs off with (loose English translation): ìt is no longer necessary to review, or we dont need to talk about this anymore.

FAIL #2 Sir M...Yes it is by Brigitte Bardot, that french sex kitten of the 50s so I will give you that but it's about a woman who is in love with a man but she is pleading with her heart not to to fall in love. All the while she knows that he will have her because she cannot resist him and he fancies her. It ends fading out with her repeating don't ever see him again. It has nothing to do with dismissal of a man for presumed infidelity. As for the girl looking like her...ehhh it's a stretch. :D
