So Masters Prem is down to 9 teams and from what I can gather, Sapperton has merged with Metro Ford?

Richmond has gone down but no team has come up.

Richmond didn't go down, they went to O-40. Indeed, no team has come up to replace them.

M-Premier to O40s is a big step (down). I would say O35 Div 1 is a step, and then the next step to O40s / O35 Div 2 are similar quality, albeit doing it a little different (more skill/game knowledge in O40, but less legs). But, who cares as this is a Premier thread. Back where I belong.

Because playing 18 games and losing 14 of them is no fun... I guess. VMSL should make it mandatory promotion. Also a few of the better teams in Masters Div. 1 are affiliated with Masters Premier.

They should just get rid of the affiliation rule. If an organization can field two teams all the power to them.

Or start sorting out the grey areas properly and have a real club system. One or the other...

There is a little more to it. Even if you let a club have 2 or more teams in MP, there are other forces at play. You can't make any team do anything they don't want to do. In the case of WS, the Div 1 guys are pretty much all 50 or older, have played in MP for years, and don't want to go back to that. Then, there is the playing surface. I did a quick pan at the fields for MP and I don't recall seeing one grass field. More surgeries = less ability to play on turf. And Friday nights suck lizard farts.

I think the better way is to keep poaching the top FV team over to VMSL in years where you need competitive teams to make the numbers.

You can't have more than one team from the same club in Masters Premier as that would destroy the whole club concept and players wouldn't be able to develop properly to succeed at the Masters Premier level.

Spoke to Ruben regarding this matter....He asked the top 5 div.1 teams if anyone of them were interested in coming up....they all said no. He didn't wanna ask the bottom half teams. So 9 teams it is.
