Norvan vs WVFH:
Norvan went up 1-0 early in the 1st half(a bit against the run of play but it was a well taken poke)
WVFH tied it up after a quick counter and too much space given. Equally nice poke from outside the 18.
WVFH get the next couple for a 3-1 lead.
A poorly timed challenge in the Norvan box led to a PK but not before a very upset horsey added insult to his injury by trying to take matters into his own hands. This led to offsetting reds.(and probably set the tone for the rest of the match). The PK was sent over the bar not quite closing the door on Norvan.
With the referee referred here on TTP as the Bald Macedonian(BM) in the middle, the stage was set for more cards....
In the 2nd Half Norvan get 1 goal closer on a cross that was nodded in.
This development seemed to unsettle things and the chirping and complaining that seems to be a feature in our games with WVFH kicked up. A questionable yellow(2nd?) for a handball(face block) outside the box turned into 2 reds after a FlyingH decided to tell the ref how he really felt by launching the gameball into the next field. The remaining 10mintues were very ugly-scrambly football from two tired teams. Norvan almost tied it up with a late header but were unable to break through in the end.
Both teams were missing players...WVFH had a better numbers on the bench than Norvan whose 1 sub was negated by a first half injury.
Lomas 3 - 2 VUFC - we dominated everywhere except for where it really counts. The shanked cross for a top left corner goal was poetic. Last game before the break so happy holidays folks!
In fairness to the Lomas, the 1st half was pretty even. The 2nd goal shank was unreal though - see one of those about once every 7 years. 2nd half was one way traffic. Must have been 80+% possession for VanU. But like bandcamp says, we just couldn't get the ball past the pipes.
Weekend predictions.....hope everyone else got as fat as me over the holidays......
Bby Wolves 2 - 2 Croatia (big bodies crashing and banging in this one)
Lomas 1 - 3 Falconetti (hopefully no more upsets for Lomas!!)
Norvan 3 - 1 Bombastic (the relegation battle continues......)
Originals 1 - 1 Horses (Originals tougher at home and WV might be hurting for numbers.....)
Alemania 2 - 2 Rangers (Rangers start their "draw" streak.....just like last year!!)
Interesting look at the standings with only a few weeks remaining. Huge shout out to Rangers who have not locked up1st place mathematically but they would have to not show to their final few games not to win the league title. Well deserved great season.
Rangers remaining games: Horses, Norvan and Westside
Eastside, Croatia and Horses are fighting for 2nd place.
Eastside remaining games: Burnaby and Norvan
Horses remaining games: Rangers, Croatia and KLM
Croatia remaining games: Horses, Westside, Meralomas
Burnaby are in a solid position in the middle of the pack. The other 5 teams will be scrapping to stay up in Division 1.
Bombastic 17 points (Lomas and KLM)
Novan 16 points (Rangers, Westside and Eastside)
Westside 16 points (Norvan, Burnaby, Croatia and Rangers)
Lomas 15 points (Croatia and Westside)
KLM 14 points (Horses and Bombastic)
Some interesting match ups - any predictions of what two teams will go down?
Thanks Eagles…we've had a great time this season so far and I think one more win will do it from the final 3 games. Heard we won 2-0 yesterday and we had many guys away so that's a good win on Kensington. Very surprised to see the 5-0 result in the WV/Westside match.
Falconetti's v Norvan - every point huge for Norvan now and they get one here. Tie Mickster
VUFC v Horsies - NEVER IN DOUBT. The first game was a cracker and really the only gritty game we've been in all year. Look for much the same Friday night. Mexican bbq after. Ole.
Croatia v Lomas - lumpy contest. Tie.
O Men v Burnaby - O men on fire and at home…win by 4-0.
Bombastic v KLM - another lumpy one. Tie.
Bombastic - KLM Alemania 2-2. KLM blew another lead... up 2-0 for 83 minutes and should of been 4-0 with all the chances missed at that point. Bombastic never gave up and tied the game. Looks like KLM we'll be going going down a Division as we need a win against the horses and need Norvan and Lomas to lose.
Falconetti's v Burnaby - Falconetti's 2-0
VUFC v Norvan - this has relegation implications for Norvan so expect them to be up for it. Never in doubt though!
Croatia v O-Men - O-men continue to roll (is Lee back possibly?). 2-0 O-Men.
WVFC v KLM - WV at home get the job done and put KLM down to div 2
Bombastic v Lomas - Lomas scrape one out and try to stay up in div 1. 1-0
