The more I think about it, the timing for a deal to get Drouin couldn't be better... accelerate the rebuild by at least 2 years, maybe 3.

He's 21 so the age is right. I would be cautious about giving up too much for a winger though, they are easier to come by then top line centers or top pairing dmen. I do think Tanev has to be in play before his limit NTC kicks in. Ideally I would prefer to deal Edler but he's not going anywhere with his NTC and you need one of them for experience to log the big minutes.

No to trading Virtanen, especially w/ Green coming in to coach, it sounds like there is some player / coach chemistry there. Besides, I remember when the town wanted to trade Bertuzzi, then overnight he simply became a 50 goal scorer.

If we can keep Virtanen from sucker punching unsuspecting plumbers, we'll be OK there.

Bert had amazing hands to go with the size, good skating, and mean streak. Really, for 2 years there was no better big man in the game.

If Jake can get to that 25-30 goal / season mark, while "playing big", he becomes hugely valuable to the squad on a long term basis. And you never know, maybe a couple of monster years at his prime in there, too. Can't trade him.

I'm on board trading Tanev, though. He can bring back something nice.
