This is frustrating. Our club has been logging complaints about needles and drug use in the change rooms there for years, and the only results we've gotten have been randomly changing the access codes, and then fencing in the sheltered area in front of the field house. We've had to do educational sessions for our coaches and parents to do sweeps prior to games and not to let any of the kids use a bathroom unescorted. Between the drug use and parking hassles, the demand from teams wanting to use the field is diminishing. If I was more cynical (if that's even possible) I could almost be convinced that the city is deliberately letting the park get more rundown and dangerous, so that they'll be able to close it. But of course, I'm not really that cynical...

Wow, that is shitty to drag your personal challenges right onto your newborn. I am not trying to be incentive to gender identity, but that is a heck of a position to put your kid into.

On an aside, I didn't think a person with a mustache like that could give birth unless they were Greek or Lebanese.

http://www.barbarafindlay.com/about-me.html is the lawyer's schtick.

http://www.nelsonstar.com/news/nelson-human-library-read-me-like-a-book/ has some more information about this individual.

I'll try to be as unbiased as I can about this - I think that while it's fair to expect someone with enough life experience to make informed (allegedly) adult decisions about their own sexual, theological, and political orientations, it's completely different and extremely unfair to expect a child without that experience to make them. I also think that raising a child without exposure to how (and why) the majority of Canadian society live is also doing a disservice to that child. who will eventually have to interact with the rest of the world.

That said, I grew up in a time filled with all kinds of off-kilter (and even outright dodgy) theories about parenting and childraising experiments and philosophies - this isn't the first one to come along, especially in that part of the province. You do have a right to be different, but your child also has a right not to.
