TheRob,

I just checked out the trailer you pointed out.

Wow.

A few things jumped out at me: (1) Ewan is doing well to make himself more like Alec Guiness., (2) there were a couple of scenes in which they dress Natalie Portman up to look very similar to Carie Fisher (note: the white jumpsuit/dress), and (3) Bobo Fett.

Star Wars II: Anakin Skywalker is a Big Winey Cry-Baby

Well, it didn't take long, but I managed to see it while in Calgary (I mean, really... what else is there to do there?).

To first comment on my post of a few months back: (1) Ewan does sound more like Alec Guiness (well done!), (2) Natalie Portman is certainly made up to look like Cari Fisher (like mother like daughter, I suppose), and (3) it was Jango Fett, Bobo's dad.

It is a serious upgrade to the outting put forth in Episode I, however some may have difficulties getting past the "love" scenes between Anakin and Amidala. When you see it, you'll understand why I had to scare quote "love". On the other hand, the hand to hand fight scenes are quite possibly the best of the series to date. Indeed, you'll note that this is the begining of the Clone War, and as such, all (hint) the Jedi's are involved in fighting.

A couple of extra pluses: Jar-Jar is limited to less than 3 minutes of screen time, R2-D2 & C3-PO regain their comedic title (there are some classic lines from C3-PO -- possibly his best ever), and interesting questions are answered. :D

Don't whether or not it's worth it. Just give Lucas your money and go.

A Jedi is not a Wizard.

EEEEEXCELLENT!!!!

us aussies struggle a little though as some of the minor roles are taken by some of our soapie stars. also jagar(?SP) fett is cloned and he is played by a kiwi(the accent is a little wierd in star wars) so they cloned a kiwi!!!!!!(there is a sheep joke there somewhere)

Yes, I noticed that guy right away. He also done an amazing job in the past playing a wife beater in Once Were Warriors. I highly recommend that rental (arguably the best movie to ever come out of the Aussie/Zealand region).

No, that's not necessary. Episode II is worth the money out of your own pocket. Nevertheless, I'm sure it wouldn't take much extra effort to grab a few of the hundreds of HBD empties littered about.

Only one laughable part...

Yoda spends three minutes just walking into the frame, and then before you know it....he is doing back flips and sh@T...WTF?

but as keeper said before....
Dont ask yourself whether it is worth it...
just give Lucas your money and see it.

What really matters...

Natalie Portman has turned into a bonnefide BABE! She's hot!

Love scenes are crappy, but who cares. Fight scenes- best ever.

Wet dreams of Gold Bikinis,

This movie blew goats for a variety of reasons, the main one being the useless douchebag who plays the young Darth. I've seen more legitimate acting in B-grade porno. Even when he did something badass, like killing an entire crew of futuristic nomads, he messed it up by crying like a 13-year-old girl who just had her diary stolen. Nice ponytail, you ponce. The whole 'struggle for power' thing could have been easily solved if Obi stepped up and slapped the Jedi taste out of his mouth. Seemed simple to me.

Having the Gremlin lazer fight at the end saved what would have been the longest, dullest love story since Titanic. Didn't make up for the collection of fat, sweaty nerds choking down nachos between diatribes on the immoral commerical appeal of JarJar Binks, though.

sensei....you DO realise that this is a kid's movie.......right? you DO recall how old you were for the original Star Wars......right?

if you cant let go and just enjoy the film for what it is intended then dont waste your bucks.

may the force be with you.

Whoops, my bad, there I go having an opinion again. Should really stop with that, shouldn't I.

I let go, but didn't enjoy the movie. Seems simple from my end. I liked the first one better than this. So I stated as much. You liked it, I didn't. Simple.

Thanks for the clarification on the intended age for the movie. I could have sworn it was for an adult audience, what with all the Electronic Boutique employees and comic book collectors in attendance. I don't really understand the argument anyways, it 'being a movie meant for children' - what does that have to do with anything? Its not as if I have incredibly lofty standards, or unrealistic ones. I just wanted to see something decent for 12 arseing dollars. This seems simple as well.

Kid movie or no, the actor portraying young Darth was awful. Didn't like him one bit.

And since I do recall the earlier Star Wars flicks - the recent efforts pale in comparison to the original trilogy.

Attack of the killer tomatoes was better

Kudos, Sensei for giving an honest appraisal of the flick. Lucas certainly didn't make the movie "just for kids". That's a crock of shite and the first excuse you hear from people trying to justify the absolute pathetic dialogue, storyline and acting. I like the Star Wars "universe" but to be a good show you have to more than stunning visual effects. Any part of the show that wasn't a fighting scene was complete crap. The battles and computer animation were very good but Ewan McGregor was the only actor who I saw that can savour a job well done. Hayden Christensen was awful. Fcuk, hopefully Lucas will spare us having to listen to his horrid dialogue next film and just make it two hours of battling.
I give it 8 out of 10 on the goat blowing scale.

Saw it last night. I figure Hayden's {whatever his name, Anakin) acting is so bad because of poor writing. If you check out his performance in "Life as a House' it becomes evident that he does have talent. His lines were brutal, clumsy and annoying. However, seeing Natalie Portman was worth the coin to bad we didn't get to see more of "Her"

Natalie POrtman

Finally.
Someone who agrees with what I have been saying for years.
I saw this lady as a child in Beautiful Girls, and could see her potential then.

Beautiful Girls

Zaurrini,

I couldn't agree more. Inbetween viewings of Sleepless in Seattle and You've got Mail, my bird introduced me to this flick as she said it was one of her favorites. Thanks to Natalie Portman, it is now one of mine as well :D

To stay on topic, what's better: Spiderman or Star Wars II?

Superhero Hotties

I say Spiderman is 1a, and Episode II is 1b. I really got into the Spiderman story-line.

On the babe scale, Natalie Portman slightly edges out Kirsten Dunst (sp?). However, I'd like to see them pitted against each other in a Jello Wrestling match.

Superheroes vs. Sc-fi

The Star Wars world is more interesting but as far as these two movies go for me Spidey was a better, more enjoyable movie. Natalie vs. Kirsten is a tough call but I'm going with Kirsten due to her sluttier, I mean "more outgoing" appearance/personality. How about Spiderman vs. Chewbacca? I predict Chewie would rip the webslingers arms off, twist the rest of him into a ball and slam dunk him over top of Shaquille Superman O'neal. :)

If we are to include all these babes, you have to add Princess Laya (The Gold Bikini wearing Laya from "Jedi"), as I alluded to before. What young kid who saw that movie didn't have wet dreams for 5 years after that?

I vote for 3-way Jello match. Maybe they'll kiss???
