Thought I would make a thread on this incident in the Brazil / Turkey game cause I didn't know where else to put it.
Just announced today, FIFA looked over the incident and decided to give Rivaldo a fine of $10000 Swiss francs (ruffly $6400 US).
Any comments on the incident?
I thought that the incident was hilarious when I saw it, even though it was ridiculous.
The fine? Why would they fine someone for doing that? Yes, it was dishonest and yes there was no need for it, however, the referee did not see it, and the linesman was right beside Rivaldo when it happened and didn't say anything either.
It was a dive, yes, but referees miss dives all the time and if it was not dealt with in the game, too bad. Move on.
