RIP Gill McGarva

This will probably be controversial(sp) on here, and I totally understand why. I by no means condone what he did to VMSL, and BCSA, and the many players that got screwed over.

Up until his crime, he was a character, and did do a lot for building VMSl to what is was then. I tipped a few pints, and had a few laughs with him in the local NV Legion.

Anyway he passed away Friday after a battle with prostate cancer.

RIP Gill, I bet he bet's on 2 worms in his casket


I bet there are some great change room story's about to come out!

one of the giants of the VMSL... I don't think people actually know what happened... not that its excusable... but...

Gil was a father figure to me growing up.

He'll be happy Norvan won big time today... he won the national championship twice with the squad.

He's been living in Kelowna the last few years, playing Lawn bowling. He has popped in to the local legion in N Van on a few occasions in the last year or two.

Great character and did tonnes for the league. But unfortunately (or fortunately - because he never made attempts to pay back the money he stole from all of us), for me and most others in the soccer community, he will always be remembered for one thing.

I was playing in the league at that time too. It was a terrible thing of Gill to do. But the league still continued and the VMSL recovered quite quickly. It's really too bad that this has affected your life in such a horrible way that you feel inclined to post like that. Just shows how low class some people are. In my opinion you're just as rotten today as Gill was 16 years ago.
