Report: FIFA's Jack Warner investigated over diverted funds for Haiti earthquake relief

Another day, another report of corruption by FIFA officials.

Former FIFA vice president Jack Warner is facing more corruption allegations, as BBC reported Monday that he's now being accused of diverting emergency funds intended for victims of Haiti's 2010 earthquake.

According to the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation, $250,000 from FIFA and $500,000 from the South Korean FA were paid into a bank account solely controlled by Warner. U.S. investigators claim the money was used for "personal use" rather than disaster relief.

Warner was among 14 FIFA officials charged for corruption in May, and could face extradition to the United States, although such a ruling could take years, according to Trinidad's attorney general.

In addition, Frank Lowy of Football Federation Australia is seeking an inquiry for $500,000 paid during his country's bid for the 2022 World Cup that is also alleged to have ended up in a Warner-controlled bank account.

Lowy says the half-million-dollar payment was meant to fund a feasibility study for a center of excellence in Trinidad & Tobago to create "goodwill" for the Australians during their bid process.

The new allegations come after reports Warner received a $10-million payment from South African officials during their World Cup bid. The payment is widely believed to have been a bribe to gain his vote.

The South Africans insist that the $10 million were meant to fund a legacy program in the Caribbean, but a FIFA spokeswoman said there was "never any intention" to have the funds administered and that the money was simply reallocated.

The South African government is denying that it agreed to pay any World Cup bribes, but the U.S. Department of Justice says the money was sent to buy the votes of Warner and his deputy, Chuck Blazer.
