Could someone please explain to me why the Canadian Men's Hockey team are getting rings? I thought they got medals, for J.C.'s sake. Isn't that enough?

Getting championship rings is something that team sports do when they win championships.

Canada's Mens and Womens team's winning Gold ranks up there with the 72 Summit Series and the Canada Cup of 87.
All huge moments in Canadain Sports.
So if the team wants to give out Rings, so be it. Both teams achieved something that the whole country and every Canadian can be proud of.
