I had covid twice:

First time delta variant. I got tested positive my wife and kid negative. Lasted 2 days sore throat, mild body ache, loss of smell and taste and no fever. Felt much better by day 3 and completely normal on day 4.

Second time had omicran. The whole family got tested positive. The kid just had a runny nose and thats it, wife had runny nose, sore throat, and chills. I had no symptoms at all and I probably wouldn't even known that I had covid if I didn't get tested.

My 96 year old grandma got tested positive and she survived with minimal symptoms. Her remedy was a shot of hot water with garlic and honey everyday before bed time and she been doing that for the last 60 years. I tried it when I had covid and I almost puked, it tasted like ass.

Overall experience delta variant felt like a flu and omicran wife described as a seasonal cold.
How did you find out which variant you got?

Good question, I guess I don't really know which strains I had, I'm just guessing based on what was going around at that time when I got it.

Don't worry Lego...we are all just really guessing!!

I really wanted to know what I came down with in the summer but I couldn't get any answers. Glad to hear it was mostly mild for you over there.

So there’s talk that a group of people are trying to join themselves to this trucker convoy and have aspirations of some type of Jan 6th insurrection plan. Jesus, maybe we are turning into the US?

I would bet that they are only trying to get into the party for the $4.7M that was raised by GoFundMe. Seriously, when truckers get a windfall of money, they spend it on hookers and blow. Ottawa is going to be on fire.

I think gofund me froze the account and has demanded a plan on how/what the raised funds are going to be used... I believe that is a requirement of any gofund me project.

Gofundme has lost the plot. I've never liked the name to begin with. It comes off as entitling and lazy. It still has its place for medical purposes and such but far to many use it for the wrong reasons and it ruins the intended purposes.

We had a laundromat out here in Mission. It burnt down a couple years ago. The owners weren't insured. They turned to the gofundme platform with a 50k goal to rebuild. So you cheaped out all these years and it came back to bite you. Now your asking for strangers to bail you out. Just morally wrong IMO.

Tamara Lich, who is also secretary of the fledgling Western separatist Maverick Party, launched the campaign on Jan. 14. It states that the money will go toward fuel as well as food and lodgings for big-riggers taking part.

"Our current government is implementing rules and mandates that are destroying the foundation of our businesses, industries and livelihoods," the convoy's GoFundMe page states.

"We are a peaceful country that has helped protect nations across the globe from tyrannical governments who oppressed their people, and now it seems it is happening here."

This chick is a real piece of work.

True, it was meant, I think to help people out who were down and out with medical expenses or a death etc, not for people who did exactly what you said, cheaped out to save a buck and got bit.

I donated to a porn star's gofund me page for stripping and pole dancing classes once and found it money well spent actually.

To each his own I guess.
Didn't know the tips came in a form of GoFundMe? Learn something new every day.

Gotta say, I'm getting there in a hurry. I don't like use of the word "Tyrannical", though. It's not. I just feel it's point blank stupidity- top-down stupidity at the moment.

This isn't a party issue w/ me, it's a policy issue. I wonder how COVID would have been handled under either the Chrétien or Martin regimes? I bet with a lot more thought on fiscal responsibility, and helping the economy recover through means other than handing out cash to millennials to stay hoe and not work? I bet we wouldn't be in this trucking fiasco.

We are already seeing the fall out. The tragic story in Manitoba of the established Indian family with 2 children that froze to death trying to flee Canada and head for the USA. Let that sink in.

Not that I agree with all that’s gone on, going on, or will happen but there’s plenty of countries doing the exact same thing as us. Can we be that far off the beaten path?
I’m not saying it’s the best for our country but it appears many countries came to the same conclusions.
Are there just that many Trudeaus out there? Not that he has the final say here in BC and we can blame it all on him.

PS: @Dude, please form your response in Coles Notes format. Thanks in advance

Are you claiming that they had immigrated to Canada and established themselves in the local community before this tragic illegal border crossing?
And you have concluded that the were fleeing Canada due to vaccine mandates?

Actually I'm the wrong person to ask, I focus mostly on Canada, and how it has affected, mainly, our ability to do business.

From that standpoint, the US Manufacturing sector is a mess right now w/ materials costs suffering from hyper inflation, and delays everywhere. There are still apparently government subsidy programs "encouraging" people to not work, making hiring tough, and many manufacturing facilities are still trying to mange outbreaks. It's one thing when an office guy gets sick, they can work from home, totally different when it's a plant person.

Europe doesn't appear to be as badly effected overall, but really, that's my take in talking to our suppliers in France, Germany, Belgium, and Sweden. In fact, our Swedish stuff is the only equipment that hasn't been jacked up w/ inflation, and consistently on-time. The rest of our European stuff? If it weren't for the hyper-inflated costs of shipping containers, I'd be ordering a lot more from Europe. Hell, with lead-times on American products right now, that may indeed be the next best play. And before it's asked, this is highly technical explosion protection products, mostly only manufactured in Europe, or Asia. The Asian stuff isn't recognized here in NA from a safety perspective, so.....

Very tough to say on personal daily freedoms. I'll be back in the spring for a 3 country jaunt, and can compare to my trip in October, which felt almost totally normal in most countries. I believe most of Europe is fallowing in the UK's lead now in lifting restrictions, treating this as endemic. But, that's really just what I've heard, not experienced directly.

Indeed, @Yoda, Canada right now seems to be the equivalent of the mom bubble wrapping their child for a visit to the playground, while the other kids all play normally.

Even the CBC story on this conceded that they entered Canada on fake Canadian passports, with a view to crossing into the US which they considered to be a final destination with more opportunity. The immigration lawyers that were interviewed said the fake passports were a good indicia of a sophisticated operation, and one that isn't exactly new.

I have sympathy for the children, and sympathy for anyone desperate enough to freeze to death trying to get somewhere, but they would have known that their Canadian passports weren't on the up and up...
