Swindon Town stadium plans on hold
Plans to build a new 20,000-seat stadium for Swindon Town FC suffered a set
back this week.
A site, located at Shaw Park, which Swindon Town had set their hearts on
will now be kept as a community forest.
They want the forest to be protected, although the club could still submit a
planning application.
Swindon Town FC had urged its fans to support the project. Its current
ground is owned by the borough council.
But some fans and residents have demonstrated and leafleted against the
project from the beginning, objecting primarily to the loss of green space.
