A “New Choons” thread is long overdue for resurrection, if for no other reason that to give Fastshow fits of frustration in attempts to access downloadable MP3s.

If you enjoy the likes of The Strokes and other slightly atl, indo, li-fi pop rock types, you may want to check out a band called Hot Hot Heat (quite possibly the worst band name since Gorky's Zygotic Mynci). Surprisingly to me, the band hails from Victoria, BC but sound more likely to have been spawned out of the New York underground.

By Far, the best and most listen-worthy choon is “Bandages”. A song that is very likely to become overplayed and irritable once in the hands of this city’s music media. But before that happens, download it, listen to it and like it .. a lot!

Other notable tunes include “More for Show”, “Touch You Touch You”. Essentially anything from their 5 song EP “Knock Knock Knock”.

Knowing bands like Hot Hot Heat exist in British Columbia gives me a great sense of relief that the likes of Nickleback and Default AREN'T the best that this city has to offer music listeners. But until radio programmers credit their listeners with even the slightest amount of respect, they’ll just continue to purvey the same old predicable, carbon copy shite that has made Chad Kroger a multi millionaire.

Off you go.

undermars is a cool name.....it was their music that was shite

Which should have been a godsent in this town. Apparently shite rises to the top here.

Now go download some Hot Hot Heat !

Just did and you really ought to get off the crack Willy.

That sweet Buzz****s inspired ditty will never get played on Vancouver radio. It's not shite, hard luck Victoria boys.

I'm off to d-load the rest.

I'd just like to bring this thread back into view, mostly because I went and saw Hot Hot Heat thursday evening.

Pretty good show. Unfortunate choice of opening acts with the Walkmen, but HHH still have that keen, holy-shite-we-can't-believe-we're-getting-popular schtick going which produces good energy and a pretty impressive live show.

Seems somewhat implausable that their sound was spawned from the mean streets of Victoria, which makes it all the more appealing to a certain degree. And I agree with Wullie, I'd much rather spend any sort of $$$ on an act like this as opposed to Creed Kroeger and the rest of Dimesack.

That being said, I was on the receiving end of free tix, and debated throughout the evening if I would have paid the $12.50 to see them otherwise. $6.75, probably. It's all about economics. And the fact I'm a cheap cnut.

This is a good thread. Hot Hot Heat are newer than the majority of the toasted shite sugested in that other noncey choon thread by people more qualified for self-vasectomy than music.

Mercury Rev – Black Forest
New Radicals – Get What U Give (Slave And Parker Re-Edit)
Emiliana Torrini – Serenade
Commander Tom - Attention (Paul Masterson Remix)
Ralph Myerz - Natasha 75
Lemon Jelly - The Shouty Track
Gecko vs Hoxton Whores vs Jon Carter - Double Drop
Sander Kleinenberg - The Fruit
Tweet - Boogie Tonight (BD Boulevard Mix)
Steve Lawler vs King Unique feat Rowetta - Souls On Ice

undermars is a good band name. Florent Sinama Pongolle is a better one.

Slackstring - Sunday Jen.

Brilliant tune taken from The Collective soundtrack. If you haven't heard it, get the movie and watch to listen to it. Or buy it from Itunes.

Listen up ya tea sippin poof, your knowledge of music is limited at best. What makes you think your taste in music is superior in comparison to me or any other TTPr? First class choices Willy, Hot Hot Heat are a great band I’ve followed them since 99. The truth is good music is hard to come by these days then bands like Citizen Cope come around, now that’s music! I for one sample almost every post suggested & Terry, I suggest you do the same before passing shti judgment on others. Unlike Terry I’m not about to throw just any semi original bands name out there for the sake of posting. Like I said, good music is hard to find that’s why I pay close attention to threads like this!

Damon Aaron – To The Outside (This guy doesn’t even have an album out till April / 05. That’s how new he is!) ;)

Cheerio Terry,

Or thieve it off a filesharing website and imediately wish you hadn't. I havent heard such depressing buttocks since Josef Mengele and his one-legged ocrchestra played the last White Hart Lane childrens' party. Will no doubt be in constant rotation on Sky's new MTV Twat. For people who think Maroon 5 are interesting.

Wow!

I'm just impressed that you thought enough of my opinion to take the time to download it. Fastshow never would have. Tell him I said Hello by the way, and Merry Christmas!

In order to piss take GayTerry in full, I will randomly dl a few of the 3463 songs that he posted in the past 2 days.....too many similarities between her and fastshow. Ill put the suckit detective on the case..... On another note, Gay Terrys need only reply to this.....
All kidding aside, what is with all these gay guys and the name Terry ? it's meaning must be a native sanfransisco tribal name ; the gentle glitter warrior. yep, thats it.

Terry Glitter ......Royksopp - Poor Leno entered your ear and was not booted right away, instead it found a permanent home and now temporarily exits to spread the word in an attempt to multiply, constantly re-entering in failure. You are obviously not a musician, you probably do not understand the difficulty of composition. The almost god given creative ability it takes to make a record with substance. If Marron 5 was 5,000 records deep and their music was not overplayed on the radio or the mtv, you would find them talented and original. It seems like all u gay guys named terry will attach themselves to this minority rainbow underground flavored shite only because it mirrors their position amonst the pop culture. I know by experience that alot of electronic music takes 1-2 hrs to make. If witnessed in teh raw production stage, its so easy its comical. If used properly dance music serves a purpose, most metal and techno are extremely fast and provide energy to exercise and train to. Thats about it.
This site isnt british, this thread isnt new british songs posted by gay guys named terry. ok jesus. I have work to do. You are a nerd. I have business thats needs to be taken care of. .....this was just a inhilation...i will dl some of the songs u posted.......ill be back breathing fire down on u.

He comes to Canada looking for pisstakes, an English oxymoron by the way, finds one, sort of, and doesn't reply but to say calm down... The Queen would roll in her grave... if she were dead.

Any chance of getting my CD from England Jinky? I'd like to get it before Luc thinks they're new and suggests them for down load. Such a waste of time.

The Queen would roll in her grave... if she were dead.

That would be funny........... if it was original.

Where did I find a pisstake? ************ Was it that miserable chav Rob telling me to say hello and Merry Christmas to somoeone called Fastshow? if that;s who I think it is he can get stuffed. That **** stole my 15 year old boyfriend six months ago and I haven't seen either of them since. He stole my bicycle too. I still have the seat though. I never rode it with thw seat on.

And that other business written by the heroin addict? He doesn't just embrace homophobia he impregnates it. He took the piss out of himself although the bit when he called me Jesus was nice. He doesn't need to, terry will do for now.

Please Stay- Mekon

A comical raw production mirroring my position in pop culture. A dance song which serves a purpose and provides energy to exercise and train to. this record took 1.75 hours to make. It only takes 6:50 to listen to in teh raw production stage. This song has business that needs taking care of. It is a nerd.
