This is hauntingly close to a thread I planned to initiate some weeks ago, but I stumbled on a title for the thread, and simply couldn't be fcuked.
Bottom line: I'd been using AudioGalaxy for the better part of 6 months (pop-ups? Yes, but always managed to get the songs I was searching for, regardless of their obscurity). With AudioGalaxy now having been shut down in a Napster-like fashion, I've been forced back to using WinMX and Kazaa, and although I assume they're as good as it get, I'd love someone to enlighten me about something even half as good as Audiogalaxy "was".
Having had AudioGalaxy, I’m finding it difficult to settle for anything less.
I've been using Kazaa since my WinMX days and I've had great sucess with it. Despite not being able to find full copies to replace my long-since-stolen Grapes of Wrath CD's, I've found just about everything I've ever searched for.
I never update the version, so pop-ups aren't such a problem for me.
I started this thread because of kazaa - I will say that it has every song i've wanted, but the popups are killing me - and I think they may have taken a toll on my computer, as it seems to be much slower and angry these days... I was hoping to find anything other than kazaa
Download a pop-up stopper. I use panicware.com . Be aware, however, that this will effect you opening up second windows, which may or may not effect Kazaa. I do not use Kazaa.
Willy,
AG was really good. However, you need to move on. Try, Grokster . It's been working for me. Or Morpheus . I've had fairly good success with both.
Grokster is a keeper. I have been using it since I was banned from Napster for downloading the big O. Anyway, there are 2 pop-ups at the start when you get in and that is about it. I seem to get most of the songs I want and it works just like Napster did. There are a lot of porn videos too.
I just downloaded Kazaa Lite 2 weeks ago and I have to say that it is awesome. Gone are the annoying popups, and the cesspool of viruses. I have had little problem getting all the music I want. I am not sure about the movies or games, but i imagine the selection would be pretty good.
