Someone start a thread on FVSL Masters cup draw.

Group D is the group of death?

Here you go. I hope I've got the teams correct.

From the league:
The teams will be positioned in 4 groups defined by your placement in the league standings as of Dec 14/09, no matter how many games have been completed.

Group A - 1 - 16 - 12 - 8
Group B - 2 - 15 - 11 - 7
Group C - 3 - 14 - 10 - 6
Group D - 4 - 13 - 9 – 5

TOP TWO finishers will be entered into a RANDOM Quarter Final DRAW with NO Seeding. Tie Breaker rules in effect shall be..

So that gives us the following:

Group A -
1 Delta Utd
16 Surrey Heat
12 LUFC All Blacks
8 Aldergrove Utd

Group B -
2 South Delta FC
15 Peace Arch Rangers
11 Abbotsford Brickmen FC
7 North Delta Utd Alumni

Group C -
3 Poco Castilians FC
14 Sikh Temple Utd (dropped out of cup?)
10 GEU Thunder
6 Mission FC

Group D -
4 Peace Arch FC
13 LUFC Athletics
9 White Rock Utd
5 Peace Arch Utd

Thanks Sliver, you impatient bastard!

Group A:
Delta will ease

Group B:
South Delta or North Delta could win this depending on whether ND can find the back of the net.
I'll go out on a limb and take ND as they start filling the onion bag in bunches

Group C:
Mission and Poco will be another great matchup.
Dissapointing that there's only 3 teams as it's painful to have another missed weekend of soccer.

Poco will take this group.

Group D:
If we hadn't just played PAU and seen what they had i'd flip a coin but they didn't impress

PAFC to win this group

It appears that our win over Aldergrove was taken away (now stands as unplayed), thus we lose 3 points and move down to 4th. I'm sure that our captain is requesting an explanation as to why this happened.

Will give some background to what might have transpired. The night we played Aldergrove was a horrendous night weather wise. Hurricane-like winds blowing straight-down the pitch and moderate to heavy rain the entire time.
Game time was supposed to be 7:15pm at Holly Park. By 7:10pm it was obvious that the referee had decided that whatever he gets paid wasn't enough to go out that night. We asked Aldergrove what they wanted to do, reschedule or call the league for another ref. They wanted to call the league for another ref as they did not want to have to come out to Ladner or Tsawwassen a second time. The league was called and another ref was found. The game started just before 8pm.

We went into the wind in the first half. Wind was so strong that it was hard to make an accurate pass. We survived a strong push by Aldergrove, and got a goal ourselves to be up 1-0 at the break.

Second half starts, we get a 2nd goal from corner kick. Aldergrove is still playing well but the wind certainly is helping us. With 18 minutes left the lights go out. We can't restart them because they are on a timer. The ref says that we have played long enough to make the result official. And that how it has sat on the FVSL table for the past few weeks.

Guess someone is objecting now.

Hasn't this happened before in the FVSL?
I seem to recollect a premier game or something a while back that had this scenario.

My hunch is the league might make them play the 18 minutes at a later date.

We ( delta ) had a cup game a few years back at JO where we played just played the overtime portion and lost on pennos due to lights going out.

Apparently Aldergrove protested the result. The league made a decision to have us play a full replay without contacting us first. We are now protesting the protest. Stay tuned.

So the top 2 teams from each group go through to a random draw. I don't think there will be many upsets except for Group D, I see Langley Athletics getting their shite together and getting out of the group.

Teams to go through to quarters
Group A -
1 Delta Utd
8 Aldergrove Utd

Group B -
2 Poco Castilians FC
7 North Delta Utd Alumni

Group C -
3 Peace Arch FC
6 Mission FC

Group D -
4 South Delta FC
13 LUFC Athletics

I'm glad somebody does.

I'll depends on the bench. If we get 2-3 healthy subs, we will pull it off. If we go in w/ our regular no subs and two guys playing injured, then getting hurt, and playing short, it will be a slow death march.

Plus, this has serious potential to eff up my ski season.

So our first game in cup is against Abbotsford Brickmen, which is only 1 week after we play, you guessed it, the Abbotsford Brickmen

No chance we could have mixed it up a little better BigBag?
