Majorly disappointing.
If you want to see everything that's disturbing about the American fanaticism over high school sports, this is the movie to illustrate it. It starts with a comment that it's based on the real events in small town Texas in September 1988, but once the movie was over I couldn't see anything all that spectacular that made this team/town stand out as being Hollywood worthy.
Over half the movie is filmed like a music video, with quick cuts, endless zooming, and hand-held shots. Furthermore, there is little character development that makes you care much about anybody.
